I'm seriously considering a hybrid Maverick when a see a used one at a decent price. There'll be fishing spots I won't be able to get to anymore but the 40mpg is too tempting. I'm tired of working for Shell lol.

We’re getting 38.9 mpg but that includes freeway driving with a lead foot. It’s a capable off road vehicle with caution..

I drove my daughter's Maverick once. It is low and has a very wide hood. Ran fine but the clicking takes a bit of getting used to when first driving it or backing up.

Interior seems almost toyish and cheap. I didn't like the XLT insides at all. The XL seemed nicer but no cruise control. Have not seen the interior of the Lariat so I can't speak to it, but it is priced $8K-9K more than what I paid for XLT Sport 4x4 Ranger with locker and tow package.

Prices keep going up! She paid $24K for hers.

Mine is the AZ version. Got it in 2011 in my men's group at church.
Prior version was very similar to yours as it was the Southern Virginia version ?
Southern Virginia? You guys have the "Ned Beaty" exemption? (What happens up the holler , stays up the holler) that's a biggie here...

Towing is the downside due to unibody. If towing is not a high Priority I would give the hybrid a look for sure. Decent room and payload. Basic no frills and somewhat affordable.

My Jeep is a unibody and it's got the same tow rating as my Ranger.

We've got a Maverick and I actually like it. If the tow rating were higher, I probably would have the Maverick over my Ranger... Our Maverick is my wife's vehicle.

Check this out. Unmarked police Maverick...covered in license plate cameras.
I looked at the source URL, and had to google JVB1 and V1G2. Didn't know the new jargon. Back in the 80s I commuted 60 miles each way to work. I had a Bell remote mount radar detector mounted in the grill and built a custom panel that snapped into an existing switch hole in the dash for the LED's and switches. I worked second shift and I'd drive 80+ mph (speed limit was 55 then)... that was when traffic was basically non-existent. Never got a ticket.

I don't mess with all that any more, and typically I'll just set the cruise at 9 over the speed limit and let it roll. If the speed limit was still 55, well, that would be a whole different story.

In my younger days I was a bit more reckless. My NC SHP neighbor tells me "5 is fine, 9 your mine".

So I set cruise at 5 over and have never been stopped since... until last night. NC SHP had a road check right in the middle of the street in the rain about 5 miles from home just as the speed limit dropped from 55 to 35 as I entered the small town city limits! He walked out in the middle of the street and waved me to stop as I approached and ask for my drivers license. I showed it to him and was on my way.

He was stopping traffic both ways. This trooper was young (wasn't shaving yet!:)) Probably right out of the Basic SHP school.

I had something like that in a 636. Came with the bike, front and rear radar with leds for each in the speedo. Later I got a V1G1 and put it under the cowl of a VFR.

I don't speed that much nowadays either but I found the site by accident and it's been interesting to read about the new stuff.
