Wow! I've owned my Ranger since 2019 and I've never noticed this!

Reading these confessions makes me wonder if you folks are really "car guys" or just old farts who stumbled upon the forum whilst trying to find another chrome plated Mickey Mouse, Made In China, POS, DeeZee product to paste onto your pick 'em up truck.

Don't remember how I found this forum, but I'm sure I was looking online for some answer to something I had noticed about my first Ranger.
Most days I'm glad I've found this forum.

It confounds me that some folks will buy a $40,000 machine with 14,000 parts and not read the manual that came with it to know how to operate it for the most enjoyment and safety.

You can download Owners Manuals here in .pdf form for free, for any Ford product going back to 1996. Much handier than running down to the garage in my jammies to look something up.

I've never understood this, I know so many that do this and have magazines there too. For one it's uncomfortable and then there's the obvious it smells like....well you know. ? I just want to get in and out as quickly as possible.

Oh man... You should see the Maverick forums (I ordered a Maverick for my wife). "Look at me do truck stuff" (loads a tic-tac). Look at my mileage I got on this downhill drive". Will I ever get my truck?". That's like every single post.

They all do this. lol On the Lariat you have to push the side button on the shifter for it to appear.

Same on my STX (XL). Press the shifter button up or down once and it will display what gear your in on the dash. Also if you keep hitting the down button it will ratchet down the gears and the trans will only shift as high as the gear that's highlighted.
Lots of hills where I live so I often downshift to save the brakes. There is a long steep hill coming into my town,, over a mile long, usually I downshift into Sport Mode first then click down one more to 4th gear and coast down the hill.

I know when we redid our bathroom I installed a bathroom fan that was 2x the size needed . . . and that was for a reason . . .
