The tech in the Ranger is Lane Keeping, the tech in the Lincoln is lane centering the Lincoln steers better than most people. There will come a time in the not so distant future where the insurance companies will cause you not to drive your vehicle, sure you will be able to drive yourself, but, it will cost you dearly to do so.
If you have an hour on this cold morning watch this, if you don't think that self driving cars are ever going to take over, watch this.
Yup...just like most of the modern airliner's are now...pretty much they fly themselves, BUT...UH OH, occasionally one does fall and make a big hole in the ground thru no fault of the pilot's. A techno screw up !!!
It may happen, but hopefully I'll be 6 feet under lookin up at the ground. I'll leave self drivers to my grand kids...

Here you go - link to article that speaks to investment $$$ involved in self driving vehicles. So in the US the way it works auto company lobbyists in conjunction with the NHTSA will influence legislators so this stuff is blessed, in some cases a required "safety" feature so auto and truck companies get to add it, raise prices and get ROI . Eventually fewer people can afford to drive, which theoretically will make the roadways safer for all of us, force people to use public transportation thus reducing congestion and pollution.

True, based on comments here, it does look like Ford has a more functional system and the Ranger just got either an older system or a lower-end less functional system. The annoying thing is that the difference is probably only in software, since the ability to know where the lane boundaries are (on clearly striped highways at least) is already there, and the steering actuators are there.

While I like almost everything else about the Ranger so far, I still think it's a stretch to call a system 'lane keeping' that just jerks the wheel at the last second and fails at that half the time.

Hoping the new 2023 Ranger will have a system more like the Lincoln or the Escape that others have mentioned.

Regarding the other stuff, that might come to pass eventually, but it will be a really long time. Handling all of the 'corner cases' of fully autonomous driving is turning out to be much more difficult than everyone was saying a few years ago.

Maybe not such a bad idea...
Put it on self drive, hop into the back seat, fire up the pizza oven and have a beer while the pizza bakes. Hop thru the rear window slider into the bed, sit down and enjoy !!!:giggle:
All great dreams, sort of like flying cars. The only way driverless cars will make things safer is if EVERYONE has them and uses them. Can you say "public transportation"? Otherwise they ate nothing more than the Nannies we already have maybe a little more efficient and annoying. People, and I include myself, tend to make too many last minute decisions about where their going. Might help on highways for long distance travel but not day to day commutes and errands. Going all electric makes way more sense than self driving cars. At least that helps the environment. (That's a whole mother discussion.)

Just what we need something that will be of use to 1% of the people on 1% of their driving. " 100,000 miles in 50 states" and "Certain sections of premapped four lane highways". Yeah the sure covers the majority of MY driving! ...
My dash nav and my Garmin often show me driving on NO road in rural AZ and NV.?

Tesla has had it for years. Ford and GM are behind the curve although Elon seems to be the only guy to be successful in SPACE also.
