I think today was the first time I've used the washer on the windshield, if I have used it, I didn't notice this issue.

Driving through the desert (on road) I hit a huge grassy bug that squished right in my line of sight. I hit the sprayer and the wiper hesitates for a second, which is good, allows the windshield to get wet before wipers wipe.

The problem is, the sprayer hits the wiper arm, not the windshield until the wiper moves. I plan to check the alignment of the drivers squirter, just wondering if this is an issue everywhere.

Are you saying it squirts low and hits your wiper arm directly while it's in the parked position? Mine definitely does not do that.

Yep, exactly what I'm saying ... most of it goes over the cab, which is probably not great for folks behind me .. LOL.

I plan to go out and check how to adjust it when I get through with the teleconference doc visits today.

Talk about issues ... I'm still not sure how I'm gonna do physical therapy on my back over the phone ... LOL ... I miss my service days where in Tokyo, you could get someone to walk on your back with magic toes ... LOL ... and for the record ... I have plenty of folks willing to walk all over me here ...

Mine does this as well but have only noticed since I replaced the wipers. Just figured the new ones had a higher profile and I would look for a lower profile on the next batch.

My sprayer actually appears to hit the arm, not the wiper. I don't see any way to adjust it, I'm wondering if the arms are not oem and maybe higher profile. On the passenger side the spray clears the arm.

It's not a big deal ... LOL ... after two months and 3,300 miles, I guess it just seems like a big deal because the truck has been flawless

Most wiper nozzles can be slightly angled for adjustment. Wet the rubber around the nozzle with some sudzy water, use a pin or needle to gently work the brass nozzle more upwards.

The adjustment range isn't huge, but it should get you into the realm of a cleaner windshield. Years ago I had an Eagle Talon with the rear washer nozzle set to directly hose tailgating douches. It was every bit as fun as it sounds...

EDIT:

I thought that the damper was supposed to stop tail gaters.

Make sure your washer fluid is not getting low.Mine did the same thing and after I filled The reservoir it sprayed normally.
That was the first thing I checked. Tank is full.

I'll try to clean these out ... both sides when the sprayer sprays looks like a strong mist, might be some of the desert dust in them. I'll also tru the spay nozzle adjustment. I have about 15 of the "dental" tools that I picked up at a local ranchers store. Lord only knows what the ranchers use these for, but, they are great for little "digging" operations on motorcycles ... I know they will fit in the nozzles.

I love overspray. Kept my windshield clean on other peoples’ dime for years. \m/

So I got the dental pick out ... checked for any clogs ... nada ... gently tried to aim the spray up some ... it wasn't moving and I remembered the soapy water ... I spritzed it with some soapy water and it moved a small amount.

I checked the pattern and it cleared the arm with the wiper at rest. Success ... my Ranger is back to being perfect ... :like:
