It's not law to have a second set, but after a certain date (Nov. 1 IIRC) your tires better have the the park mountain/snowflake symbol on them. Lots of folks around here that drive trucks seem to like the Goodyear Duratracs. They run them all year. Three peak or not, I don't consider them winter tires. I have dedicated winters for my Colorado on steel rims. Steel rims are cheaper and pay for themselves quickly. I'm going to try the OEM tires on the Ranger for now, but the first sign of misbehavior and I don't care what I have to give up, I will go and buy a full set of snow tires. That's interesting that it's law to have a second set. Always cool to hear the different laws and customary things from other places, even places not too far from where I am.
I'll definitely get a separate set of wheels as I have always had for my snow tires in the past. Definitely pays for itself quickly. Plus I don't like paying someone to do something I can very easily do myself, like changing a tire.
Thanks for the info!
