Tasca has them for 60 bucks
most states do not allow TINT on the windshield without a doctors note. The UV stuff is clear so it really doesn't count as tint.
yeah as long as you have side mirrors ...
what does side mirrors have to do with tint???

Id suggest getting a light colored dash cover if your goal is to reduce cab heat. That big window and black dash generates a serious amount of internal cab heat in the sun.

I tinted the side and rear windows of my Supercab last year. The first summer it was just too hot and I had the A/C on full blast all the time. It helped some, and I live in PA where it rarely gets above 92. The Ziebart near my work has windshield UV film that I might get this year but I'm not sure how well it will keep the heat out. That's part of the problem, the windshield is yuge and laid back so far and you get a lot of sun into the truck.

Look for ceramic IR(infrared) that's what will stop the heat. The heat coming in is IR not UV.
Think of the IR heat lamps keeping fries warm.

I've got to price ceramic for my Tremor. My 2019 was done by the dealer with regular tint and you're right, it does nothing for heat transfer. Here's a good video showing the difference ceramic tint makes using a heat lamp.

Probably be about $450 but worth every penny. But if you do the windshield in clear IR then $700.

I have done all my cars. One day I used a laser temperature reader to check my Lincoln. The outside temperature was 98. The out side glass was 145 and inside the car was 105.

I'll probably skip the windshield for now (I know it's the biggest heat transfer area) and just do the rest. I already have a mobile appointment for 5/23 but with everything going on I forgot to ask her about ceramic. ?‍♂ They're open today so I just left them a voicemail and will change it as long as it's not crazy priced here. Thanks for the reminder!

Being old too, i have same tint as the back windows. But my eye glasses have no tint and only tint when i go outside of truck, the no tint helps at night with seeing through the tint..

Ijs, it's effective and doesn't hinder night time visibility.

Be careful on how dark you use on the side windows or putting tint at on the windshield. Can be used as primary/secondary collision factors in TCs.

what does side mirrors have to do with tint???
some states limit what you can have on your back windows based on whether or not you have side mirrors For example this is Texas tint law:

  • Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection.
  • Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in.
  • Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used.
  • Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without.

Tint technology is changing and with it, slowly, some of the laws regarding it.

Previously putting any film the front windshield was illegal in a lot of states. But now you can get heat reducing film that isn't tinted or is barely noticeable at all so it has become more legal. Add to that the fact that in a lot of the hot states like TX, NM, AZ, as long as you don't give them a reason to care about it (ie don't be a douche-canoe dickwad), most cops don't care either as long as the tint is with in reason.

So we find that with good behavior (not egregiously breaking the law) and being well mannered (cops are people too) then you get a little under the table privilege.

thanks ive always liked dark tint and ive never had issues without being able to see and ive done a lot of night wheeling back when i had my tacoma and it never hindered my driving

plus i work nights so its always dark when i leave work lol
I’m in an odd situation where I bought the truck in a state where legal limit is 35%, but I live in a state where legal limit is 25%.

I’m getting windshield done, but I Tj I know may need them to slap something on top of the 35% in the front to make it look more uniform with the back, and a better blending overall.

Your post intrigued me because it sounds like you might have done something similar, but maybe not.
