How did I know? HOW DID I KNOW (this 'thing' would end up a potential POS?) THE VERY REASON I have the Ford is because my brand new at the time (2019 - 2022) Honda Ridgline REAR window leaked. The dealer / stealer tried and tried, having my truck for 50+ days to fix it, and never did. I ended up with a lawyer and ALL of that mess to force Honda into a FULL buy back.

Well Ford, I still have the number of my lawyer on redial. Let's see what mess this becomes.
It’s a pain to have to bring it in, but I wouldn’t worry about it unless it leaks after they fix it.

Not sure I would worry too much about a dealer doing the recall work. Every dealer I have ever had a windshield replaced at used a specialist subcontractor to do the actual windshield replacement.

I actually had a conversation with my dealer yesterday about this and they said it will have to go to a glass shop. They are just getting this info also and are trying to work out logistics.

Mine is included in the recall with a March 2022 production date. Hope they don't break the windshield trying to pull it out and only having one vehicle makes these things a pain in the ass.

Come on Ford. How many years have they been gluing in windshields? This just should not be happening.

Mines included but I'm likely not going to schedule it.
I can't even get simple shit looked at in under 3 weeks. They'll probably fuck something up in the process anyway... Illinois is full of shit businesses.

Yep which will mean it'll probably be a pain to get done. Hopefully they don't break the windshield trying to pull it out and put it back in. If that happens you could be out of a vehicle for a few days. Then who pays for a rental? I bet it's the customer. I might not even mess with this recall and take my chances.

With recalls, as long as the vehicle isn't going to catch fire, lose brakes or wreak I am not that concerned. This one sounds like it could be a mess with everything involved.

Is it giving them too much credit to think that they would hedge against that possibility by having new windshields on hand incase the old ones break upon removal/reinstallation?

Hey all if you already have glass crack then run a ballpoint pen across the crack. If it hits a stumble or drops into a fissure then there’s no warranty. I had a stress fracture that was replaced under warranty.. if you find no fissure then probably you’re great candidate for warranty replacement under 12 k miles.,, mine was a warranty replacement…

Mine is included too. Built 01/22. I won't be in any hurry to take it in unless I find that it's leaking. I've had windshields replaced in the past. Never goes as smoothly as the commercials make it look.

The problem I had with my wife's Escape was that the glass shop didn't put it back on correctly and there was a lot of wind noise going down the highway because of it. I really hope that doesn't happen with our Rangers. Happened both times she had to replace it.

I agree. I've only had to replace a windshield a couple times since I try to catch a chip quickly and get it fixed, but one of the times after a hard rain I had a wet foot well. It had to go back and they tried fixing it with more crap around the windshield which did not work. They finally had to pull it out which broke it and replaced it again. I am not convinced the glue-in job of a replacement is better. I know a young man that works for a glass company and he says the OEM windshields are always the hardest to get out and many times they break them trying to get them out. He says aftermarket usually comes out easier. So is the recalled glue job going to be better? I'd say it's a crap shoot.

They tried replacing 3M Urethane adhesive with wallpaper paste to save money

Considering how crazy Ford has gotten with cost cutting these days it wouldn't surprise me. You'd think they would at least attempt to use Elmer's glue, but I suppose wallpaper paste is even cheaper.
