Everyone can expect Ford to take a "boxing gloves" approach to warranty claims. Lately their warranty expenses are incredibly high and their new CEO has pledged to lower warranty costs.
Oh dear Lord. I have not paid any attention to what has been going on since I left Ford but this?? This guy is the second coming of Roger Smith. Nothing but politics and no passion whatsoever for the product they put out. Consider yourself lucky if you already have your Ranger. ????

Hi Tony,

I see Jim Farley differently. He is a racecar driver. He is and has been a car guy. From what I have heard from folks inside that I still have contact is that he is coming down on top brass for warranty costs by fixing the reason for the warranty. It goes back to get it right out of the box, not have the customer and dealer fix it... I hope this is true.... Pretty Boy Mark Fields and Office Funiture guy Hackett were not a help to Ford for sure... Since I took the pension buyout...if Ford Tanks, I still have my money... Still want to be an ambassador for the company.

Best,

Ford needed one more compliance which is a flash light and taking pics of the crack. So I went in to the dealer today and they performed the procedure that ford required and submitted it for there compliance.
Heard back within 2 hrs and Ford is replacing the shield  The order was placed now just waiting to arrive and then to take in for replacement and reconfigure the camera and other electronics that are involved.
Very Happy of this outcome. :like:

its been almost a week since the OP took his in....wonder what his outcome will be??
Talked to them yesterday. Said the holiday break delayed things a bit and he apologized for that delay. Dealer put in official case with corporate and just waiting to hear back. This is after the initial denial. Said 24-48 hours. So Wednesday I will be calling back if I don’t hear anything today.

interesting about the flashlight test. Why wouldn’t that be done the first time around? I am still driving my truck so what happens if the shield gets further damaged between the initial complaint and their follow up test? Do they get to deem it not their problem if that happens? I guess I will see how good my dealer is.

So what was Ford's take on it? Or did you not get to hear that part of the interaction? I'm just wondering if Ford is deeming it a manufacturing defect, or they're just taking the hit because they can't find anything else wrong. Just curious.
Was not there to see their reply. It was done through email interaction. But inquiring minds now would like to know ?

It caught them (service advisor, warranty department ,service manager) off guard. I believe it something newly thrown at them. The pics that were first sent in were what was required in previous business. The new pics with flash light being sent were was required now. The flash light is to be angled at 45 degrees and pics taken through out the crack. This would show (in their minds) any possible impact.
Cory if this was not done or asked to be performed I would inquire on this procedure to prove otherwise. Good Luck :like:

Reading this thread jinxed me.

Happened to me on my FiST the other day.

I watched a crack grow out from a chip I've been meaning to fill about 20 mins into my drive.

Safelite is coming out Fri to replace that one and fill a chip in my wife's Mazda. Glad it wasn't hers that let go. She's got all the doodads that make it a $1k windshield, like my Lariat.

Might look into glass coverage, but hate the whole idea of insurance and generally carry as little as possible.

Picked my Girl up today and it sure is nice not seeing her crack (pun intended) not in my view :giggle:

Just a heads up when they replace a windshield with lane assist and rain sensing wipers. A new sensor has to be ordered cause as per there say it is a one time connection so I have to go back when it comes in supposedly will be in tomorrow and they will button it all up.

Very happy that all calibrations work just fine.

Just got off the phone with the service manager at my dealer, Ford denied it. He said it went through 3 levels of escalation and appeals and they are saying its not a defect... I still call bullshit but whatever. Ask him if there is anything at the dealer level they could do since I bought my truck from them and he said no, that they have strict guidelines they have to follow with that and it doesn't meet those.

He did say since it took so long he was surprised they denied it and thought it would be approved. I don't know if he is just telling me what I want to hear but he did seem sincere. He suspected that they knew Florida is a free glass state so they just flat out deny it, which is most likely why he wont back me up at the dealer level as well. It is what it is.

So I will have my insurance take care of it and be done with it.

So now onto getting my paint issue resolved and a new rear axle which is something that popped up last week.

Whether anyone thinks this is bogus or not, if this happens to anyone and you have just a small doubt that this should not have happened, bring it it and get it on record. The only way this gets looked at is if people bitch about it. If one just assumes it must have been a rock or some outside force and dismisses it, it doesn't help anyone else down the line.

@Greg - Consider yourself lucky to have it replaced. Glad that worked out for you.

Really sorry to hear of this outcome for you Cory. Something don't sound right in the length of time considering the first reply came back so soon. But you never know these days.
Is it possible the insurance will also cover the re calibration of the lane assist. Wont hurt to find out.
Or perhaps the dealer steps up and covers this.
Any way best to you Sir.
