What's your kayak rack setup?

I have looked at the Elevate, but it's a little pricey for my budget right now, and I can't get a straight answer on whether it would work with my tonneau cover; it's the Ford branded tri-fold one, which I think is basically a Bakflip, but again, I can't get a straight answer on that either.
I do like, though, that the Elevate system is easily modifiable, both in position and height.

The Elevate Rack isn't currently compatible with any hard folding tonneau covers due to the way the hardware installs to the truck bed. You may want to take a look at how it installs and decide if it will work with your current setup. The installation guide is available on our website. Do you have any recommendations for something similar? My major objective is to be able to transport skis in the winter and bikes in the summer, while still having the bed available for baggage/outdoors gear when doing road trips. To that end, I'd need the crossbars to be fairly easy to remove so that I can still open the tri-fold once the crossbar cargo has been unloaded, and have full access to the bed.

This is exactly what I mean! One source says yes, another says no, and either way it comes down to "I don't know" because I can't get a straight answer as to who actually makes the Ford-branded tonneau cover, even from Ford!

Yeah, there's still a bit of older information left circulating. Our website includes the newest compatibility chart showing which covers you can install the rack with that doesn't require any modifications or adjustments.

Check out the ADARAC Aluminum Pro Series Truck Rack. It mounts directly to the stake pockets of the bed so that it's compatible with an inside mounted tonneau cover, so it's also easy to install and easy to remove- and it's tall enough for the cover's panels to clear the cross bars.

I appreciate the suggestion. Not to quibble, but my understanding is that the R5G doesn't have stake pockets (certainly, I don't see them on mine), so how does that affect the installation of these?

I'm glad you pointed that out. Sorry for the oversight! For the Ranger, it's going to be a bolt on installation.

Yea, I started a thread on this last year. For myself, I just load it in the bed and strap it down, but I do also use a bed extender.

Do you get rock chips on your tailgate driving with it down?

I did a brief search and didn't see anything specific, so thought I'd start a new thread.

I just purchased an 11.5 ft kayak, and was hoping to get some info on what rack attachment folks use, and how they secure the kayak when driving. Looking at just getting those J shaped ones, but was seeing if folks had any tips.

I have a bed rack that I just throw the kayak on and strap it down. Nothing fancy. It’s faster than using those kayak mounts and easier to pull off. Just my 2 cents.

I can have my kayak off the truck and in the water while my buddy is still unstrapping his.

Easy bolt on install. Hardly notice the rails now.
