Just got new wheels and tires for my Ranger Tremor, running BF Goodrich 285/70r17, method wheel, right now I just put 39-40 PSI for on road and 35 for on trail. Any suggestions would help?

I ran 32 in both my 19 Rangers. Tires like new on both 30000 miles. I have seen a bunch of slick pictures of tires under 20000 that either left factory air in or only lowed in high 30s or low 40s. Up to you but putting out what I have seen. Think door say 30 if I remember correctly

Mine door said 39 PSI from factory for the tremor package, but this is aftermarket tires so I still try figuring out.

That depends on your vehicle's set up and weight...do the chalk test...I'm around 5,000-5,500 pounds rolling on 285s...37 psi cold on pavement, 15-20 off road...

This is also what I run. Slightly higher off-road to maintain clearance.

Definitely a bit high in my opinion. I have same size but run Firestone Destination XT tires and run 30 PSI on the street and usually go down to 18 to 20 psi on the trail. You definitely need to run a Chalk test to see where the tires are best on your truck for pressure but you definitely are down more than that when going on the trail

Please define “trail” to you.

I run 18 lbs on trails that I will be on for hours. Then pump back up to normal after leaving trail. I am next door in Nevada so we basically have the same landscape.

I air down to 18. That's my magic number on any 4x4 I've owned.

Your tires will tell you what pressure they like. If too high they will tramline.

The term "tramlining" is being used to describe when directional control is disrupted by the vehicle's tendency to follow the longitudinal ruts and/or grooves in the road.
Feel free to start at max pressure of the tires or at 39 and decrease the pressure to eliminate tramlining.

Seems high. You need to factor in different variables too. Average temperature in your area. Altitude, warm or cold when checking pressure. I’m 34psi cold and around 38 warm. I air down to 20-25psi depending on type of terrain. Chalk test would work. I haven’t done it yet tho either

mid to high 30s low 40s on road and around 20 off road should work fine. ive stuck at 35 cold. once the tires are warmed up from driving they are typically just below 40. mine are 265 70 17 load e so not same size as the post asked.

How’s those 285’s going for ya?

I have 305’s.. they are absolutely beautiful, but my PSI & MPG, is just out of control lol… 16-16.5MPG.

Your pressures are way to high on the street. I run 30-32 on the road with my Patagonia MT’s and 15-20 on trails.
