This will be interesting to see how well this works out. I would have (1) repaired the older car and drove it until the Ranger came in, or (2) started looking for new Rangers across the country. Even if you paid MSRP and shipping for the new Ranger, you would have a lot less risk than flipping a 2022 Wrangler.

Mine was a 2004 Mercury Sable LS “grandma “ car. 149K on it when I bought it in September 21 for $2500 (when I sold my 2016 F150). Put new wiper blades on it, a Sasquatch air freshener and gas in the tank, otherwise no other expenses. Sold it in March of 22 to my friend at church for $2500 after he totaled his Equinox.

Truth is I kind of love this van (had it almost 10 years) but it's not going to last much longer. Hence my Ranger order!

Well, I have to say, other than it not being a truck, I am enjoying pretty much never purchasing fuel. 1050 miles so for, 500 of them driving from Greenville, NC to Raleigh to Atlanta. 362 miles electric.

Wishing for a Ranger PHEV...

The 2021 Ranger I purchased back in January is my gap vehicle. I previously drove hybrids ( escape, then fusion). I was really interested in a Lightening.

However, I love this truck and will hold it until a PHEV is potentially available in 2025ish. Or longer. Other than gas mileage, which I knew was going to be less than the previous vehicle, this truck has been great for what I've wanted. It does everything well enough to suit my needs.

other than availability why not the f-150 phev or does everyone forget it exists?

Other than price that was my originial want. especially with the 7.2 kw generator too.

a truck that could run the camper or the house,

Excellent call out. I did look at the Hybrid F150 as well. I don't recall it being a plugin, but it was a very close choice as well. Has a good feature set. Availability was a factor at the time for me.

Naa, the "Creeper" vans have cardboard in the windows, or no rear windows at all. Yours is just an "old man" van.

My "gapper" was this 2011 which filled in until the 2020 was delivered from the assembly plant...

The 23' I ordered a couple weeks ago will replace 2001 Ranger I currently drive. Nothing special about it, just a beater truck to daily back and Forth to work and to keep the miles off my VW R32 ?

Well, an update from me...

My Ranger finally came into my dealer, and I traded the Jeep Wrangler 4xe in on it. I basically drove the Wrangler for about 3 1/2 months, a whopping 2700 miles. After all the paperwork was done, and including the tax credit on the Wrangler, I came out about $150 to the positive.

So a couple thoughts -
Driving the Hybrid confirmed for me that If there were a plug-in hybrid Ranger, I would be all in (potentially, depending on sticker and features).
If I had owned the Wrangler for about 6 more months (and if the economy or auto supply chain stays the same), I probably would have done a little better on the Wrangler. I think only having it for a few months hurt my trade-in/resale. I say that because my son traded in one that was a full year old, with about the same average miles/month, and got a little better offer than I did on mine.

Glad to be in the Ranger (29 weeks from time of order).

Fixing an unused 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the mean time (maybe new . Both my 01 Cherokee and 17 JK have auto-lockers in the rear, so they really suck in the Winter. I have to put a new rule on myself "I will not turn my next vehicle into an off-road vehicle."
