Hi Figarou,
Hi Figarou,
Yes...I thought of this and the mixture of my AGM deep cycle batteries and the flood cell engine batteries, but the batteries are over 5 years old and were just fine until very recently. I checked the charging parameters and nothing has changed. Gotta ponder this one a bit as the Xantrex smart charger might be getting old at 17 years old... SUM TING WONG.
Best,
Phil
whew good thing you keep up with checking on the rv. that could have gone badly. hopefully not too much mess.Hi Folks,
I had an experience today on my Diesel Pusher RV before which I have never experienced.. I check the RV frequently for electrical health via several monitors and there have always been Green Lights for normal system functionality. So decided to pull it out and give it a sponge bath today. It would not start...It has two Group 31S batteries. So I accessed the engine start batteries to see what might be going on with these batteries... As far as I could tell, things were just fine..
Here is a picture of one of the batteries as I removed both in my investigation of a no start condition of the CAT Diesel...
Any folks see where the problem might be??????

Baffled in Green Valley (not!),
Phil
i watched a rerun of that late last night, it was much more cheesy than i remember..Nothing a little Red Green duct tape won't fix.![]()
Looks like the battery froze. I’ve seen it a few times. Also if using wet cell and AGM or gel all 3 have different charging rates.Hi KJ,
Yep...Ranger chased to O'Riley AutoParts as they had 4 31S in stock...$400... Not too bad to install except for the weigh lifting into the compartment and cleaning up the mess from the shorted battery ....
Fired up the coach and it purred just fine...all is well again....so now I do not trust the battery health monitors at all. I have never had a battery do this before... Gotta be an internal short and thank goodness it did not cause a fire.... I think I will replace these new batteries in short order next year with good quality AGM batteries.
Best,
Phil
Lithium ion battery is another type.Looks like the battery froze. I’ve seen it a few times. Also if using wet cell and AGM or gel all 3 have different charging rates.

Hi Figarou,Wait...are you mixing batteries?
As in different batteries hooked up together?
I've learned you can't have that. All needs to be the same. Brand, voltage and amps. A battery that's stronger than another can "charge" the weaker one.
I think Dave would say a little 303 on the battery beforehand would have prevented that.Phil, Dave @AzScorpion was telling me that DeeZee makes a great RV battery. You may want to check into that.![]()

Now you guys are finally learning! A little 303 Graphene Nano spray would've prevented all of this.I think Dave would say a little 303 on the battery beforehand would have prevented that.![]()
