I would do Angels Landing again. No questions asked!
Hi Bob,

When I did Angels Landing I was the only Blue Hair up there.... Dangerous...yep! Worth it? you bet!

Best,
Phil
When I showed Annie the pictures online of Angels Landing the other night I got that look. Even with 2 good knees there's no way she would do it. Heck she couldn't even look out the window while we were off road climbing those shelf roads in Moab. lol I'm going to either have to wait for Bob to join me one day or do it alone because one way or another I'm doing it.

Dave, Cedar Breaks has some awesome views. My buddy who lived in St George took us up there 4 yrs ago. Then we circled around behind Zion and came back down thru it. Sadly he just passed away so I may not get out that way again soon.
Sorry to hear about your friend Chuck, hopefully you'll be able to get back out there one day. Maybe we can gather up enough members here on R5G to have a meet up and Angels Landing hike? :D

I've seen many pictures online of Cedar Breaks and it looks like a mini version of Bryce Canyon. We had a great time in 2020 at Bryce so we're really looking forward to going tomorrow. Plus it's at 10,000' so it'll be much cooler and enjoyable walking around.

If you start at the main parking lot at Cedar Breaks and go the left. Go all the way to the sign that says the trail ends. Disregard that and keep going about another mile. You will come to this. It’s not the Arches but still pretty cool.

If I remember it was about 4-5 miles total.
? I won't tell Annie how long it is and I'll bring plenty of ice.

Is there a steep elevation change going up to it or is it just gradual? She can do gradual but when it's to steep it puts to much pressure on her knee coming back down. Going up usually isn't much of a problem.

It wasn’t bad. The only downside is you start at the top. Meaning the return trip is uphill?

Last time we were here in 2020 we stayed right at the entrance to Zion. This time we're about 20 miles from there in a town called Hurricane. We came out here a lot back then as there's some good places to eat here and a few good off road and hiking trails so we decided to stay here this time. It's called Hurricane Hideaway Lodging and they're basically duplex type cabins but surprisingly when we got here they're pretty good size inside and all like brand new. It's a small property with only 10 units here so it's really quiet but close by to everything.

That's the way to do it Rick. If you have any questions just drop me a PM for some tips we've learned along the way. I'm a big planner as I don't like to shoot from the hip when we're on a long road trip. Knowing things ahead of time keeps the stress level down, and it helps things run smoother for us.

Like you I used to laugh at those senior discounts. But hell, we have worked hard for those discounts, so Imma gonna use 'em.......... :)
Jim, Thank you for the offer when the time comes We will probably take you up on that offer. Rick

Went up to Cedar Breaks for the day, it's like a mini Bryce Canyon with spectacular views. I took Bobs @Bob902 advice and did the 5 mile hike on South Rim Trail to the arch. I was a great hike with views everywhere and Annie made it all the way to the end but it was a little tough for her going back but she really is a trooper and did it.

What's really cool is you can look at a section from one angle then hike half way around the rim and get a totally different view. There's so many great shots I'm having trouble figuring out which ones to post because there were sun and clouds out today and it changed the colors all throughout the day. Sorry this might be picture heavy.

After 1 mile to come to the first lookout called Spectra Point. There's a bunch of these trees there and the Park Ranger told us they're over 1,000 years old. To me they look like something from a horror movie and they're going to grab you as you walk by. o_O

More great views from this lookout now looking at the back side of the pics above.
