XL rear wheel Thank you
How many miles have you got on them?

I had some rear brake issues on mine from new, so I've been through about 4 sets of rear rotors under warranty. The last time I had it in, the rotors and pads took a week to come in due to back order.

I have 40K miles now and with the problems sorted I can't imagine I would have had to change them yet (the fronts haven't been touched in 40K).

Also, the rear brakes aren't anything fancy. You'll need to remove the caliper and bracket (if you're changing rotors), and then you'll have to screw in the brake piston because that's how the e-brake works on modern rear disc brakes. For that you'll need to buy/rent the clamp tool that twists and pushes at the same time.

Check the level in the brake fluid reservoir, if it's still within 1/2"-3/4" inch from the top, then your brakes are A-OK.

(that measurement is from memory, you should be able to tell if it's low)

I'm curious why you are looking to do the brakes? I understand mileage but if you have used the cruise control a bunch then engine braking has you taken care of. I remember looking at my brakes at 30,000 during a service and the rears. We're.at 8-9mm

I know I will be needing at least pads soon.
I drive the hell out of the truck, I don’t use cruise control. I just want to have a video for reference when I do go to do them. Thanks for all of your help. If anyone ever finds a link please post in this thread.

I guess I’ll check mine. I have 40k with 5-6k of heavy towing and my brakes appear new, and my reservoir is still nearly full. My rears are new about 5x though, so it may not be accurate to go by my experience.
