So I installed this Ford Racing tune this morning. You have to download the Pro Cal 4 software to your PC first. That software has Livernois motorsport listed for the Pro Cal 4. Several Pro Cal updates later, and it's time to hook to the vehicle to save the stock tune. Once saved, you attach the Pro Cal to you PC to retrieve the Ford Performance tune. Then back to the vehicle to flash the new tune.

I can't say I feel a night and day difference in the truck. I have been running 93 octane in the Ranger, so my gains feel small. My seat of the pants dyno tells me I feel an increase in torque. Trans is still relearning, but does not feel much different. Throttle response feels improved.

I need to put some more learning miles on the truck. I can't say I'm real impressed. My truck is broken in at 8200 miles. But hey it's a warranty legal tune, so I'm sure they are keeping things on the safe side.

^^Cool, keep us posted. Just a question though. Doesn't a dealer have to do the install to make it warrantee friendly?
That's correct, he could unload it and take to the dealer to have them load the tune in order to gain the warranty.

How much are dealerships charging to install this to keep the warranty valid? Trying to figure out overall cost for this add-on.

they shouldn't charge you any more than 30-60 minutesr of labor...if they try to charge more than that, then you should find a different ford store or ASE Certified mechanic to install it.

I wonder if there is and adapter plug that can be plugged in between the tuner's cable that function as an auto off

The labor rates around here are $200 or so. All in all i am not sure how worth while this upgrade would be. Leivttown ford price + labor rate here, total is about $850 or so.

Unless someone says its so much faster they need to wear a diaper when they drive, I think ill have to pass for now.

I installed it yesterday and it's definitely a huge improvement to both power and shift points. It is able to adjust for my 33 inch tires as well. I did have an issue with it reading the factory calibration, I had to contact Ford Performance and they updated something on there end so I could update the ProCal tool.
