They are beautiful cars but you would never keep one past warranty, unless you happened to be a good mechanic your self. They have a link to the 6G Rangers though, they use the same 3.0 V6 diesel that the Rangers use in our and other non NA markets.

This is another worthy competitor, although I don't know if they are available in NA. Just think if your were building a car from scratch and picking all the best bits, that's exactly what this lot have done, BMW 3.0 petrol or diesel engine, ZF 8 speed auto, Tremec all gear transfer, Carraro locking diffs, etc.
They do appear to have a handful of sales & service centres across the US and a couple in Canada: https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/ca/find-a-dealer

Like @Trustable says, though, with a base price of C$96,695, that's a non-starter for me.

I love the looks of the Defender too, I'm just waiting for a better engine. The one they are pushing is the six cylinder "Mild Hybrid" which adds substantial cost and gives you a whole 1 mpg more! I asked the sales department why get a hybrid for a mere 1 mpg? He said more power. I'm like -- why would you want more power than the 6 cylinder would have? They need a better engine option.

The Ineos is getting good reviews. It’s powered by the BMW B58 V6, which is an absolute gem. I know a lot of folks don’t want to admit that, but it is. Reliable as well.

Yeah I was excited about that engine along with the transmission.

I know it’s going to be much more expensive in Canada, but they have a utility version over seas with only two seats and I wonder if they will have a two door version as well at some point - I would think that would drop the price quite a bit.

Except it's an i6 not a V6 but the rest is true, supposed to be one of BMW's better designs.

You can get a base as well as deluxe model over here as well as a a 4 door ute ( pickup) not unlike a Jeep Gladiator. With the prices Jeep have been asking over here lately for their unreliable products and backup, I know which I would rather buy. Given that the Canadian $ is ~ $Aud I would imagine Canadian prices would be roughly the same, maybe cheaper as shipping would be much closer.
Despite the high price I do see quite a few on roads over here and the do stratle you because at first glance they look like a brand new Defender.

Yes, sorry, mispoke. I had the B58 in a X5. 100,000+ and nothing but oil changes. If there is a smoother engine/tranny combo out there I would like to drive it.

Why would you buy a Defender when Hyundai gives you the same square looking shape, summons your inner Viking, helps you catch massive fish and gives you free admission to Valhalla. Better even than a Range Rover which limits you to driving up spillways.

Advantage to Hyundai, if only in their advertising agency.

I have not seen one yet, I’m surprised. If I can get one for around 50k usd I would seriously consider it vs the starting 75k they are asking. Hard to justify it at that price point considering it’s a base model.

I have always liked the looks of those but the three people I knew that had them had problems an there was never a cheap fix. Granted these were 6 plus years old when it started but it turned me off to them, but your dollar your choice.

As against Rangers where we almost expect the auto to die before 6 years.
All cars have weak spots. Read the tale of woe that is Toyotas new V6 engines.

It might, but probably not by a substantial amount, and in any case a two-seater wouldn't work for me; I need more than that to carry around the family, and I don't have room either on the driveway or in the budget for another vehicle. That's why I like the Ranger SCREW; it's a nice mix of my wants and needs in a single package at a (relatively) reasonable all-around price.
