Edit
TL:DR
I'm an idiot, if youre sure you installed everything correctly but are having trouble "shutting" the truxedo w/ the tailgate closed, try hitting the cover on the passenger side. Not even hard, a moderate thump with the heel of my hand is enough.

Original post;
I bought and installed the truxedo pro x15 recently and am not too happy with it.
I've watched multiple install videos and spent hours searching the forum and Google for tips and answers.

I've finally got the rails as flush to the caps as possible and am overall ok with it but I have two problems I can't figure out.

First and foremost, I can't for the life of me shut the cover down with the tailgate closed. With the tailgate open the cover closes easily, the only problem w that is now the weatherstrip is shut in-between the tailgate and the cover and not overtop of the tailgate, sealing it. I've zoomed in on forum member pics and can see this weatherstrip on top of the tailgate when closed so I know others aren't having this issue. Also, having the mechanical latch on only one side causes the passenger side to sit higher than I'd like.
Anyone have any ideas?

Secondly the cover has ripples in it that I can't stretch out. After closing I re attach the Velcro and pull as tight as I can but there's still lengthwise ripples across the top. So much so that a coworker asked if my tonneau unfurls perpendicular to normal.
I do have the tension screws backed all the way off for the closing issue so maybe tensioning will help?

Any insights from truxedo owners are appreciated. I might try to return it however I do like the overall look and operation.

It’s a super simple cover to install and use…
‘Did you ajust the tension,at the front?
The cover gets latched after you close the tailgate.
‘You must not have the rails properly positironed,or the front adjustment correct.
It may have taken all of 30 minutes to install mine?‍♂

From your picture the rail does not look like it is installed properly. Mine closes easily with the gate closed and is nice and tight and wrinkle free. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

I used these two videos to install mine. I remember pushing the rail from the bottom and then up and against the side of the truck bed to line it up and tighten down on it. Do both ends and the middle last.
I also had some trouble and took a break from it and came back out with the video on the laptop playing and followed along.

****This is the one I followed and finally got it to line up:
At 12:50 is where he mentions how you hold it to before tightening everything up. Also 13:30, how he tightens the clamp the end by the bed cap.

Here's another video to check out:
This guy starts from the tailgate and goes towards the front on the bed. The other guy starts at the bed, then by the tailgate and clamps the middle last.
I would go by the instructions and watch both to see if you pick up anything from the videos.

It was a little tricky to get it right but I finally got it installed. Later I bought some black butyl rubber on Amazon to seal the top, upper corners by the bulkhead and under it too.
I used a flashlight to see where the light was coming through. I could also try to post some pictures tomorrow.
Hang in there, you can do it! Robert

Make sure your rail brackets are actually secured to the metal of the bed and not just the plastic cover of the bed rail. My installer did this and it never fit right until I pulled the brackets and reattached them.

Here is the picture I promised. Looks like your rail is not on quite right.

For those of you that have the tonneau covers....how many inches of bed space do you lose on each side with these types of rails/brackets? That pic looks like maybe 3-4" for each side?
I have been considering a cover but was hoping to not lose a lot of space across the top of the bed to do it.

You loose less for the rails than the wheel tubs. A 4 foot wide sheet of plywood fits between the rails no problem, it does not fit between the wheel tubs. I have not measured it but I would say you are corrct at approx. 3-4inches each side.

I have the Truxedo TruXSport that side on top of the rail. I have never been able to latch it closed
with the gate up. Things stay dry even though the gasket is now in the inside of the tail gate. Any water that does manage to drip in just falls along the gate and out the gap between the gate and bed. But I can see that as a problem if you put on a tail gate seal.

I have the LoPro version. I have to open the tailgate to latch or unlatch the LoPro, but my seal does set on top of the tailgate. But, water comes in at all corners a little bit, but I think that’s true with most soft roll up tonneaus.

I don't really see an appreciable difference between how mine sits and musclefords. It's as tight and flush as it can be. The clip is fully engaged on the metal.
I did notice that my rails/hardware look a little diff than the pics and videos, but it might just be changes from year to year.

I'll get a picture of mine with the gate closed tomorrow. Yours might be higher than mine relative to the gate.
