Northumberland. We went over the week after the ferry went down. We were already booked, so we drove from Dartmouth, taking the Confederation Bridge.

My place is on the other side of the island on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. A little cooler, a little more breezy. I used to drive over the bridge regularly when I lived in Dieppe, NB - still love the bridge!

It is a nice drive. That was the first "big" drive for my Ranger. There were four of us and the bed loaded with camping gear. Leaving Dartmouth with a full tank, a traffic slowdown in Truro, and about another 100km driving around after we got to Northumberland; I filled up at the Aulac Big Stop on the return trip 68.5l and 686km (or there-about). The computer said I had another 55km left.

The truck did well on it's first real adventure.

Thanks Bob,

I’ve already loaded the garage with beer kegs I’ve called one of the local university cheer squads to let them know to stop by.
You had me at beer. I’ll catch the Artic Cat out of Bar Harbor ??

Hey @SigOris ,

I’ve taken the Scotia Prince out of Yarmouth, NS to Portland, ME but not the Acrtic Cat to Bar Harbor. Some of these “fast” ferries were tried in British Columbia but they ended up creating so much wake, they had to sell them off. Maybe the “FastCat” became your Arctic Cat. ?

Have a safe trip Duke.
Thanks, don’t forget to bring extra ice, maybe a sleeve or two of Solo cups - everyone will appreciate it. Oh, yeah, a couple of ping-pong balls too.

I love the Maritimes. Just went around Gaspe a few weeks ago, nth time. Last time we went to PEI we were only to stay 3/4 days. We spent our 2 weeks on the island. The plan was to go around the Cabot trail... again... (plans, just a starting point!). We stopped late at Jacques Cartier Provincial park. They told us it was full, but maybe there was room at the end of the campground since we had a tent. The site was on the beach, we stayed 3 perfect days at this spot. The singing sands was so fun too! I don't have enough fingers for the times I did NS on my motorbike. NL is amazing, need to go back. I've been to the other side of town too(on bike), Victoria BC is nice.
Anyway, enjoy your drive.

Have a safe trip and I hope there are minimal problems to fix.

And I always, ALWAYS, give GM the middle finger when I drive by. It's the least I can do ?

I'm in Salisbury NB. Safe travels.
Thanks!

Salisbury, huh? That’s my favourite Big Stop location. A bunch of us would head out in our trucks from Moncton to mountain bike races in Woodstock or Edmundston and we’d rendezvous at the Salisbury Big Stop. :)

I'm not surprised, it's a popular place!

Thanks very much - Cabot Trail would be so much fun on a motorbike!

Found some images I took during my solitary ferry ride over to Nanaimo, BC in January, 2010. A very memorable, positive trip. Made two ferry crossings to Newfoundland - no images that I recall.
