I'm leaning this way and I'm not impressed at all how bad these Nittos wore. With only 30,000 on them and rotated every 5,000 they're just about shot.
I had the same problem with Nitto but not with Toyo..

I love my AT3s - they seem to be holding up well and they have pretty good traction in snow and wet.

You're going to see a bigger performance difference between p metric and LT within the same brand than you will between different tires in the top tier AT category.

I've run both LT K02s and ATIIIs on my Rangers. They're both great.

if this was me, I'd go for those C Rated Toyos. Good price, not too much weight.

You're still going to want to run a winter tire in winter.

FWIW according to discount tire my E-rated AT3s have the same 65k mile warranty as the others. I'm 30k in and they are wearing great.

I'm glad you posted this because I'm going through the same dilemma myself. Hopefully you don't mind if I piggyback of your thread too. I need new tires soon and was torn between the Toyo's and KO2's. I'm going to be selling/trading in my Ranger so I don't want to spend a lot and most likely won't be going off road as much as before. I'm leaning heavily towards the AT3 SL for the savings and the weight. I'll probably still go off road a bit but nothing extreme because it'll my dumb luck something breaks right when I'm about the get rid of it.

Is there anything else out there I could get that's similar to the AT3's but cheaper? I hate spending a lot of money when I'm most likely getting rid of it later this year.
You may laugh at me but check out your local firestone. They have a tire there that my research has lead me to believe is a rebranded kumho(which had excellent reviews). I've not ran them cause I'm waiting for my factory kooks to wear out. For the price I'd be willing to try them. The suredrive all terrain. 147 each.

I ran Toyo At2 and loved them. Had a couple sets of the. Easily got 40k out of them, which i was content with. Very capable and good wearing. Im amazed at how much their price has shot up in the past 6 years. Last set i bought were 180 each!!!

I had BFGs one time and swore I'd never have another set. Wore out way too early, like 20k miles. Wet traction was lacking as well. Of course that was a lot of curvy mountain road driving and they are a softer tire, not their fault, just not a good fit for my life.

Everyone has their own preference.:)

I went with SL AT3s. I went back and forth a million times between them, the falkens, and the KO2s. Ultimately I was sold on the AT3s after reading the Tire Rack reviews and several others where they praised the performance in snow. I ruled out the KO2s because they did not review well in the rain, and I live in Oregon. AT3s have been fine for me so far, taken them to the ski slopes many times this year. Ride is acceptable and the road noise is pretty minimal.

I’m going to need new skins by the end of summer. I had Toyo’s on my last Ranger and really liked them. That’s what I’ll be doing again.

Recently got some at3 e rated. No noise on the highway. Haven’t hit the dirt or snow yet. Smooth ride so far.

Glad to hear your Cooper's are wearing well D Fresh!

Real quick, wanted to clear up the mileage warranty on the Discoverer A/T3 line. The A/T3 4S is backed with a 65K limited treadwear warranty where as the Discoverer A/T3 LT and XLT versions are backed with a 60K limited mileage warranty.

My apologies for any confusion with this from our end!

I appreciate that. But we were discussing The Toyo Open Country AT3s, was my understanding correct for those?

Not a waste though, I have the Coopers on my Jeep. Yes, bought them from you guys too, well TireRack, but we're all one happy family now, right? I'll never see the warranty on my YJ's Coopers. It weighs less than 3000 lbs and couldn't spin it's tires if it's life depended on it. They'll dry rot before they wear out.

 My apologies for the confusion!

Standard load/p-metric Open Country A/T3 sizes carry the 65K limited mileage warranty and all the LT sizes carry the 50K.

Absolutely, one happy family now as TR does fall under the Discount Tire umbrella!

Good to know. Regardless, I was off.

That being said, I'm 30k in and they look like they'll go 60 easy. Think I will take them in for a precautionary re-balance though, now that I'm thinking about it.

When Discount Tire does complimentary rotation... do they rebalance ?
Not sure.

I have the dealership rotate when I do oil changes at 5k. I'm lazy like that. I've been told they'll rebalance at no charge but I'm prepared to pay for it as well.

Rotation service is always FREE at Discount Tire for passenger cars and non-dually light trucks, regardless of where the tires were purchased or installed.

If the tires are installed by us, the installation cost includes balancing (and rotation) service for the life of the tires :like:
