Thanks. I’m gonna be towing a 1999 E430 instead of the van. Weight of the car is 3,640, plus what 2,200 for the auto transport? Think I’d be good? I have 5100 Bilstiens in the back

Yep, you'll be just fine. Take the first few stops gently and feel how the surge brakes are working on the trailer. They tend to vary from VERY grabby to 'what brakes' depending on how abused/taken care of the particular trailer has been.

Don't be surprised if you feel some weird clunks as you come to a stop and take off, that's pretty normal for the UHauls and their surge brakes.

Ohh, I just looked again because I was curious, my Accord only weighs ~3400#, so that would have been about 5600# on that day, give or take.

Thanks brother. This will be a real test on the Ranger. There are some major steep uphill grades on the way back…

Be fun to hear how it works, I'd expect no problems, just use your head and give yourself plenty of space.

You've got 10 gears, the truck will find the right one. :)

Well you were right, this truck towed this like it was nothing. Extremely impressed. Even going up very steep grades she handled it like a champ. 100 degrees the entire time and 250 miles.

So I have to tow a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan about 200 miles.

It weighs between 4,120 to 4,365 lbs.

I want to use a U-Haul dolly, U-Haul is saying this “combo” won’t work because of my truck.

What do you guys think? I’ve towed a Corolla (about 2,700 pounds) a while back with a tow dolly and it did great.

Any tips are welcomed
The funny thing is I once (ok, twice) rented a front wheel dolly for a dodge/chrys minivan, I want to say late 90's early 2000's, v6 model. I towed it with a 98 ranger 4cyl stick shift. Managed freeway speed (55mph) though it did take a while (and over 60 miles). Also bumper harness towed a70's single cab inline 6 manual dodge ram (max speed low 40's) pontiac 3600 LE, freeway speed. That ranger lasted me 22 years, over 240k miles, (original engine/trans, second clutch) and it refused to die. Sold it in 2019 for 1500 bucks despite rust and being a bit beat up and faded having spent a few years hauling scrap, most loads 2000-2800lbs each, and bought a 2019.

The driver has much to do with it.
