Where I get my lunch daily is across the street from the dealer I got my Ranger from. One of the mechanics gets lunch there too. He just got a Maverick and was parked next to me. It’s about the size of my previous Ranger and has Fords now boxy look. The 6G will only be a bigger version of the Maverick. He was going to flip me the keys to run up and back down the street but was short on time. He did rave about the mileage and admitted it probably would suck off-road unless he dumps some coin into it. For what they’re selling them for it is promising if you want a smaller footprint

I saw a Blue Maverick Lariat FX4 in the wild (Sam's parking lot) the other day and talked to the owner. I liked it and it was the hybrid. He gave it a rave review!
It couldn't have been an FX4 if it was a hybrid. Unless he just put the stickers on it to make it look cool.

I kind of like both & I think they will both sell well. I do like the Maverick’s appearance a lot more. I see them all over the place here in Michigan. I don’t think I’d trade my Ranger for one but I can definitely see the appeal of them.

I'm sure you're right. It was over 100 degrees and there was a Ranger FX4 that parked next to me as well...LOL

You like the styling of the Korean cars?

Every single Kia and Hyundai on the road looks like a hodgepodge of other designs to me.

"We'll take an Accord's C Pillar, a Maxima's grill, creases from a Camry, and we'll call it a Sonata"

But I'm biased. I drove the very first Hyundai imported to the US in high school for a bit. An '87 Excel that was already clapped out by the time I bought it in '93.

It's kinda like LG. I remember the Goldstar brand they used to be and garbage sold under it's name at Radio Shack/KMart.

But like you said, to each their own.
I remember the Lucky Goldstar brand. Stroke of branding genius to change it to LG. :)

OK, so you can't find any similarities on other makes/models? I'm sure if you looked, you could see. Ive never been a fan of the really square look. Some straight lines, yes, but a brick? No.
I'm not bragging on a motor only lasting 100k, but the fact that they didn't just repair crank, or put a short block in. Complete motor minus the turbo and exhaust manifolds I'm told. Even if DOJ wasn't involved, judging by relationship we had with dealer, I'd be confident to say it would have been covered under 100k warantee. And the 6/60 warantees? Hell no...
No fuel in oil, rattles, eratic shifting, braking issues etc that some post here, absolutely none of that on the Sante Fe. Nothing, no issues and at 130k now. I call that reliable. (No issues with my 2019 Ranger either) And Volkswagon used the 100k warantee as a marketing tool for a few years, and it worked. Now back to 6/60. No so with Hyundai. It gives us peace of mind.
I'm not sure what you mean by not having an understanding of the vehicle I drive... And I could care less about the politics involved. What manufacturer doesn't have skeletons? I guess MPG statements would bother me, IF I wasn't beating them.
Notsure about an 87 Hyundai, but pretty much all companies had issues abounding during the transisitional years of the 80's. There was a lot of delvelopment going on, and lots experimenting. I know, worked at GM during those years. Carb to throttle body injecion to individual injectors, 350 gas motor block used in diesl engines... the list goes on. Don't compare an 87 to a 2014,...

I can tell you that Hyundai only puts in a new block only if they are out of their refurbed short blocks (they run short because they are continually replacing these engines) - some of which blow up a 2nd time for the unfortunate owner. Our Sante Fe is full of rattles and the Ranger although substantially larger and heavier and produces more power yields better mpgs than the 2.0 Theta II . Speaking of mpgs I get gas card reimbursement from Hyundai because they deliberately overstated the mpg and got caught and again the DOJ fined them and forced them to compensate owners such as myself who were deceived.
Hyundais are decent vehicles but take a look at the longest lasting vehicles on the road and you won't find any - that is none. IMO they are experts at marginal designs - especially in their engines and suspensions, they do load their autos with nice interiors and a lot of tech features which allows them to sell with
And I posted this yrs back when a friend bought a 1986 Sonata, I had my Saab turbo 9000 and going skiing he tried to keep up with me going up highway 24 towards Woodland Park in CO, I easily was outpacing him when I look in the rear view and see clouds of smoke, the engine blew up as Hyundais were known for back in those days .

The Ranger is my first truck, and I test drove the Maverick, Ranger, and F150.

If the Maverick had been available without ordering, that may have been what I bought.

I’m glad it wasn’t available though because I love the Ranger, and I wouldn’t have met all these 5g knuckleheads!

Ranger is also my first truck too lol. I love my Ranger but if I were to buy right now with gas prices how they are the Maverick would be Really tempting, if they stocked em on the lot lol. Like you said I’m also happy a year later with my purchase

I saw a car from the back today that made me do a double take, i thought it was a different color for the Mach E
turns out it was a KIA.
I've had that happen more times than I can count in the last 10 years. Mercedes, Lexus, and Toyota seem to be their biggest targets, but they mash them up good.

Very good business decision.

D Fresh - how about this for an original design (not) ? Ladies and Gentle may I present to you the one and only KIA Amanti.

I wasn't directing that at you, and have no problem with making any vehicle more capable. My gripe is using the same labels across all lines. Why not call the Maverick FM4, or any other series of mostly meaningless letter combinations.

That goes for the Raptor too. The first ones were a substantial upgrade in power and performance. The later versions, and Ranger version are not so impressive. Stock ranger comes with 2.3, Ranger Raptor reportedly coming with 2.7L. Why not a 3.5L or Coyote with a real power upgrade? They are continually under-mining their own upgrade packages by homogenizing them and sticking the same label on every line. A Maverick Raptor is next. Why not a Maverick Top-gun, or Maverick Goose and get away from Raptor?
a version of having a Halo car for branding and not getting other smaller version too close to the "halo" so that thing still has a reason to be the King, while others get to identify with said King of hauling ass, off-road, etc.

Raptor and to a smaller extent the FX4 label.

Ask nissan how things went when they had no sports car for a bit.

In the 80s they were 100% Mitz powered. You could literally lift the valve cover off an eclipse and bolt it to an Elantra.

Makes for some funny swaps when you throw a 4G63 in an old Sonata.

This was one of the most blatant ones. Looks like they shrunk a Deville DTS and put a C Class front fascia on
it.
