After you have a trailer and pack everything all the time... You eventually want to go back to a car you can drive to and from events. :p
I have a mostly stock car and it can drive to and from, but if something happens on track, I want to be able to get home with minimal fuss. It will not be so much of a pack issue as just get it on the trailer and secure it, most times I should be able to drive it right on. If I get tired of trailering, I guess I'll just have to start looking for co-drives.
I'm really looking at camper shell options, wish bakflip were still being made. I've gotten tired of tent camping. Planning on open trailer as well.

This thread is getting fun.

@yamahaSHO what system/software were you thinking of using to modify the tune on your ranger? I know HP tuners supports the ranger but that whole system with buying credits for each vehicle you tune is weird.
I was going to go with HP Tuners. It's a pretty common tuning device and I've had plenty of requests for tuning using that software over the years, but always turned it down because I hadn't been able to play with it directly on a vehicle.

One of my tuning buddies does Ford's with Cobb (I wish Cobb supported the Ranger as I am a Cobb ProTuner already and like their Suites), so I'll have some assistance on getting caught up with the engine (already have had the dialogue a few times).

I will have to look into how they support tuners as for me to start supporting and make it worth my time, it's gotta be reasonable on the customer and the tuner.

I think HPtuners is a good option. If they had more support for ford back when I started my mustang build several years ago, that is what I would be using today. Much easier to look at other strategies with it. SCT Advantage isn't as flexible as HPtuners when it comes to viewing other strategies, but it does what I need it to do and they have been supportive over the years when I had questions. I never got to the point of needing a standalone ECU. No trailer pic so I'll sub a shameless engine compartment pic.

Did you end up picking up an HP Tuner for your Ranger? If so, how’s the tubing coming along? Looking at picking one up too but looking for a little more insight before I pull the trigger.

I do have HP Tuners as I am a dealer for them now. Still waiting on my truck through.

Gotcha. Excited to see what you can do with it when you get it. I’ve never done any custom tuning myself so I’m a little hesitant to jump right in without the support. My experience with tunes is from my days with my Mark V GTI running REVO stage 2+ and just adjusting settings via the SPS controller. I’d live to see them, Cobb, or APR do something for the ranger. Cobb told me the same thing about not planning to support the ranger platform.

I wish Cobb would support the Ranger. I am a Cobb ProTuner for several platforms and ready familiar with their software.

Not sure how familiar you are with them, but I reached out to REVO and they said they’ll be supporting the Ranger, just no idea in the lead time.
