I am sure this question has been asked before so forgive my asking it again. I have a 2019 Lariat Super Crew FX$ package Ranger. The truck has been more than I could have hoped. What I ordered, and what was delivered were almost the same. For some reason, my Ranger came with the $175 upgraded tire option listed as LT 265/65 R17 A/T OWL tires.. All I know is they cost more and were more aggressive than what I thought I had ordered. Not a big enough deal to make a stink over it as the dealer was a pretty decent guy,

I know have about 50,000 miles on the truck and it can use some new tires. These Hankooks haven't been bad but I always thought they rode a little rougher and were noisier than tires I have had on pick ups in the past..

I drive the truck 99% of the time on the roads. I live in MN and we do gets lots of snow and ice. I run the truck on minor trails for duck hunting and run it on the ice covered lakes to ice fish. I figure I'll be getting rid of this truck when the newer 6G is available come Spring of 2023 if what I have read is accurate.

So, tire recommendations. I have always liked Michelin for their smooth ride and quiet nature. I have tried other brands and they just don't seem to stack up well. Last tires I bought were Cooper (rated high) for my Jeep Grand Cherokee and those tires just never worked right. Should have gone with the Michelins.

Even though the truck is gone in 18 months or so, I don't want tires to get me by. Nothing sucks more to me than a noisy, rough driving truck.

Appreciate the responses and sorry for the same question and long rambling post.

Michelin are high quality premium tires. They've rolled great on BMW and Lexus in my experience. I like your idea of sticking with Michelins - in a tire designed for your needs and truck. Maybe use tire racks shopping tools to find a Mich tire and do your research.. Let us know how this works out.

I won't argue that Michelin makes great tires. One other tire that might be up your alley is the Firestone Destination AT2. It is a simple All Terrain tire that is severe snow rated so that will help when winter hits. I am sure the ride will be good for what you get but also understand that the shocks cause most of the ride quality issues. As another thought you could go to 265/70-17(one size up). I did see a report from someone here saying that helped the ride quality. Also they fit with no modifications needed.

Thanks for the input. I have read the Firestone Destination are good tires and I believe this is the tire that Tire Rack recommends for the Ranger.
The ride quality of the Ranger with the Hankooks isn’t “offensive” to me as much as the noise is. I think these are loud tires and am looking for tires that are quieter. Guess that is my number 1 complaint on the Hankooks. Otherwise they have served me well. 50,000 miles isn’t too bad on OEM tires these days and they still have a few miles on them.

On Fenchy's and others' recommendation, I ultimately went with Destination AT2 as well, in 265/70R17. They're very quiet (at least on my vehicle) and I'm quite happy with them.

A few thousand miles ago I dropped the Hankooks for a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S. These are quieter and provide better traction than the Hankooks in snow/ice conditions. The better temp rating and siping does help. Not a dedicated winter tire, but is a more than capable alternative as high mileage all season tire with an experienced driver behind the wheel.

If you thought the Hankooks were noisy and rough, you better go with a street tire. Most AT tires will have a more aggresive tread and and be louder/noisier than the Hankooks.

You would be suprised with the Firestone tires. I have the Destination XT and dont have any noise from them what so ever on the road. The Destination AT2 would probably be a little better on noise as well.

Hello. How are you liking the tires after having them for a few months? I have my eye on them, in 255/75R17, as the time approaches to replace the 265/70R-17 GENERAL GRABBER A/TX SL tires I've been running.

I ran Destination ATs on my XJ Cherokee back in the day and I liked them a lot, they worked out great off-road, and I'm looking at the AT2 as I try to cut down on tire weight in the future...37 pounds each in place of the 55 pounds each I'm running now.
