Damn , this went down in January?
Yep, by the time I booked an appointment at my bodyshop it was early Feb.

Apparently parts availability and everything else had effected them quite a bit, as they were very backed up. I've used these guys in the past a few times and have been very happy with their work so I didn't mind waiting.

Normally they're booked out about 1 ½ months. So 3 ½ didn't seem too bad. Plus the time gave me a chance to save a bit for the repairs so I didn't have to dip into savings or use a credit card. I hate doing either.

Hi Doug,

The Iceman cometh, eh?

Best,
Phil
Right!?

I've been driving our YJ the last week. It's a fun little bugger. But it's more of a daily driver for the kid and once a week type ride for dad.

Can't wait to get my truck back!

Hopefully I have the energy to put her together Monday morning after work.

Also, I'll probably have to install seat heaters in the YJ, both for cool/wet topdown mornings and therapeutic purposes.

Reading back through I realize I forgot to update on the financial/court side of things.

Dude did show up to court. He did get an additional charge of no insurance and a restitution order for roughly $1700 to me was issued on his case as well. $1000 for my deductible and $700ish for a rental car.

He'll never pay a dime of it though cause he's a leech.

@AzScorpion

Dave, thanks for the heads up on that Cali Raised ACC relocation bracket. Picked one up as I just ordered @Heavy Duty 's front reciever.

Got a call Friday afternoon. Truck will be ready for pickup Monday morning.

Today I got all my lower front bits painted and put together. Should be a quick finish once I get her home.

There's some truth to that. Fucked around yesterday and ordered @Heavy Duty 's front reciever and the CaliRaised ACC relocation bracket yesterday. Should be able to get everything else on this evening before work though.

Just got home from picking the truck up now. They did great work as I expected. Pics will come once it's all together.

I wish I had seen that bracket earlier - it looks like a better solution than the one I used - and would require a lot less cutting. I ended up having to cut the wires to add more. I used the Westin bracket which took a while and some cutting to install:

I will be interested to hear your experience with that bracket.

Might be a couple weekends before I get to it. I've got a brake job I should do on the Jeep this weekend. But I'll let you know.

Got her all buttoned up before work.

I listen to the "classic rock" station in the garage. I shit you not...

As I was finishing installing the skidplate a very fitting AC/DC song came on...

"Back in Black!"

A coupe of shots of the work my shop did on the fender and plastic trim above the bumper...

Looks great Doug! It's good you have a great shop you can trust to do a good job. Those lines are better than some of the factory ones we've seen on here over the years.

It's weird nowadays. Everybody's customer service AND quality of work has gone in the toilet the last couple of years. I've used these guys a few times before Covid and was thoroughly impressed before.

But despite that I had a hole in my stomach over the worry that either the work wouldn't be up to par or the experience would leave me wanting.

Nope, nothing to worry about. They did great work as always and their customer service was top notch as expected. Anybody looking for a body shop on the front range should hit up B&E Autobody in Brighton Co. Seen some nice custom work in their garages too.

The skidplate and bits I rattle canned aren't the greatest work. But I don't have the patience to paint well. It is good enough for the girls I roll with though!

Just got done doing some bills. Got a restitution check for $150. I'd bet there are 11 more coming. Apparently dude is on parole and doesn't want to go back to prison.

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
