The chrome trim around the air vent is blinding.

I don't know if it's my seating position or just the sun at the right time of the day but it hits just right in my eye. Is the trim in the XL basic flat plastic or the same chrome? Part number for the chrome is KB3Z-2104334-AA.

If not are these easy to remove so I can spray them with flat Plasti-dip?

I’ve never experienced anything like this. I think you’re just in the mood to plastidip something. ;)
It is usually when I get off work around 1230-1 and the sun is straight up. It wasn't an issue in the winter and spring. It's just frustrating to have that reflective surface straight in the eye.

There are $50 overlays, but I mean yes you could plasti dip it for cheap. The over lays are on Etsy and eBay iirc. I have seen the sun hit it perfectly one time out of the year. I guess it really depends on what time you drive and the right angles at where you drive. Other users mentioned this as well. Just make sure you use drape plastic if you are working inside the vehicle… seems a bit messy but doable if careful about overspray and everything is covered.

If I do end up spraying them I'll remove them from the truck. They have a separate part number so they should be removable, just not sure how. I'll check out etsy, thanks.

It should be a crime to cover over any chrome. Now I am getting my home ready for sale and trying to be kind realtors term it "dated" - the main reason is all the fixtures - doors, lights, bathroom are bright brass. So the realtor I signed with packages a visit from a home decor person - I mean this lady was totally a hater of anything brass to the point of being eccentric, have an antique brass clock on my mantle which she repositioned into a dark corner, thought she was going to puke when she saw brass ceiling fans - I decided if people are brass haters - like chrome haters, they can all stick it somewhere else, I've always been attracted to bright shiny objects.

Ya know I had the AC vent reflection hit me just right the other day, I just kinda sat up a little more straight and was fine. Maybe tweak your seating position a hair or you can paint it like you are asking.

You could always add a strip of tint across the top of the windshield. It will shade out any light especially when the sun is high like when you get off work. Or you could just tint the whole windshield which is what I'm going to do on my Bronco.

Can confirm the XL dash has no chrome. All flat black or matte silver. I’ll post a pic tomorrow.

Both the AC vents on the driver's side would do this to me. So fricken annoying. I already pulled the infotainment screen bezel assembly out and applied clear plasti-dip to it because of the glare issue from it. The clear plasti-dip works like a charm and gave it a nice matte finish. For the AC vents since I wasn't sure how to remove the trim ring from the vent I took a 1/4" wide strip of black vinyl pin stripping tape and applied it across the top of the vents. It surprisingly blends in very well and solved the glare from the vent trim rings.
