My Bestep should be here today or tomorrow. When I'm loading my atv it would really be helpful for it to be there lol.

Okay...so that step wasn't too easy to get in there lol.

Instructions - lol

First off - I suggest assembing at least one if not both spacers into the assembly here -

Two reasons - First its a full on MOTHER to get to those three bolts and the clearance issues are neglible.

Next make sure you have extra cable ties...they call out that you will need some to take care of this harness noted below BUT if you have the tow-package you will have a second harness on the other side of the chassis -

Lastly, make sure you are able to get enough torque on that bed to chassis frame bolt - the bestep bolts up there and leaves very little room to get in there to tighten stuff up. Make sure you leave the chassis to bed bolt loose before you try to get this one started too -

IT said 4 hours...took me about 45 minutes - 15 of that going back and forth to my tool box getting wigglers, deep and shallow sockets and different wrenches.

All in all, good piece of kit though and worth the hassle to install.

Bed bolt and frame tab that you have to slide the step frame between.

And here is the long bolt and "frame spacer" that is to be used-

As I said it gets a bit finicky and you will need to work partially blind if you have big damn hands.

But worth it. :)

Darrell, Good description as the instructions are not totally understandable. Took me about an hour, having to get up to answer my phone several times on the bench - no I don't want to extend my warranty or need a medicare supplement or friendly cremation and I don't care about your Nigerian Prince.

The unit works pretty good in average snow and cold conditions (a little stiff), but the real test will this spring when we enter "mud month." The very high clay content is a real bugger. Even the power washer has difficulty. We'll see then.

Hi Jim,

Careful...can you say Slip and Fall? My wife spent a career with a National Mall Developer in their legal dept as a Legal analyst....the number of Slip and Fall cases was overwhelming...

Phil, assuming you are like me (been retired for a long time) it's not the getting down that's the problem - it's getting back up once down (you young guys will find that out soon enough). The snow on the step was left on for demo purposes, brushed off when the step is used. And there is no way anyone would use a step assist without holding on to something, in this case usually the bed side rail - but as you said, and your wife knows, never underestimate.....

I have a Bestop Step on order. I am fortunate to have a Bestop dealer in Omaha and they are going to install it for me for one hour of labor. They have installed many of these and understand all the "tricks of the Trade"

Yea, like anything else.... use some of your 'common sense'.
If it's icy, clear it off before you use it!
I know, no one seems to have any of that 'common sense' thing now a days. :frown:

I have this step on my truck, and it's really handy.
But, to each his own, I guess.
