Still waiting on mine from Motorwise.ca (for us north of the 49th). Looks like it’s well worth the wait.

My concern was ice/snow/slush build up, inhibiting operation. This happens with Ford's step (the one in front of the rear tire). The Trek Step is directly in the path of that slush. Where I live winter lasts from November through Mid-May, really beginning in January. Currently there is only about a foot of snow on the ground with some salt and slush on the highways. So far I'm impressed - the step is working fine. The real test will come in the next few months when the real snow arrives, and in the spring during the melt. The build up will be significant ATT.
One could add a flap in front of it to help shield.
In addition to normal rear tire flap.

Like John, Got mine at HD on black Friday sale years ago. Works perfect ,highly adjustable for any location, stores nicely against the tailgate if you have a load without taking up hardly any space. Us old farts just keep on trucking.

I guess third time‘s the charm.
My first order from Amazon, turned out to be for an F150,
The 2nd was missing the upper bracket.
So Third...I ordered straight from Bestop. :like:

Anyway,...It works well and holds my weight (198-200lbs).
Just a smidgen higher when folded, compared to the bottom center of
the oem hitch.

One thing worth mentioning is that, I had to remove one of my Baja S2 aux rear light because it would interfere with the step. ( not a big deal atm )

Mine was just delivered. Ordered directly from Bestop. They give 10% military discount. Looks to be heavy duty. Ads say 300# capacity but instructions say 400#.

Pete, When I ordered the truck I specified front and rear mud flaps. For some time I have seriously thought about your suggestion; cutting a piece of rubber from an old inner tube and placing it in front of the step to act as a shield. If I can get my act together I'll do it.

I have similar ones I use around the driveway.
The downside is, a portable ladder won’t be useful
when we go off road on sand.
(e.g. surf fishing, getting equipment in/ out of the bed)

In Tennessee rarely and issue but for maybe a day every 5 years, but I remember those frozen blocks of ice from my time in Wisconsin. Hard and a bowling ball when they fell off. I think a stiff rubber flap might help. Just large enough to block some. From my install, should be some spots to maybe wire tie on for a test run. Share pics when covered in snow.

It is made by the company that makes the dampers . I can see another attack by the Crazies , I cringe .
