I wasn't paying attention today and broke my rear tail light. Just cracked a bit. Still technically works, but I want to go ahead and replace the assembly.

Most of the ones I am looking at on Amazon list 'without module'. I assume this has to do with all the Blind Spot tech, but I am unsure what it actually means, and if it is something that I can use the existing one, etc.

Anyone have any wisdom? Mine is a 2019 XLT if it matters.

If yours has the blind spot sensor (in the LED style taillight) you can reuse your module on the new taillight.

Just be careful with the wording (WITHOUT) as this can mean.
BLIS - Assembly - BLIS Removed
or
Non-BLIS - Assembly

The BLIS - Assembly will have a mounting spot for the module (Like This) the Non-BLIS will (NOT) have the mounting for it.

If you get one like this, just swap the BLIS (Module) over and no programming required.

If you get one like this and it has the module (installed) - you have 2 options
Swap the modules - old to new - or use the new module and use Forscan to perform a (New Lin Initialization) to program the VIN# into the new BLIS Module and you can save your old BLIS as a spare.

For Ref: This is the Module for Programming you have SODL & SODR - Side Obstacle Detection Module (AKA - Blind Spot Module)
(L) = Left - (R) = Right - (Taillight Module)
They are not Side Specific (Part Number) however Program (Specific) for the side they are installed on. (traffic direction radar scanning) Left or Right

No programming is needed if your original BLIS module is reused.

One thing to keep in mind is to keep water from entering the taillight lens until you get a replacement. Water leaking into the lens will destroy the BLIS module, so you should seal the crack.

I got the new assembly yesterday. Ultimately I was able to get it in, and it appears to work ok. With that said, getting the new module in was almost impossible. The 'guts' of the assembly were a little in the way. Once I got the module in, I felt like it didn't seat quite right, but looks like it should be good after tightening down the screws.

Putting it back into the body of the truck was also a pain. It was just REALLY tight. I had to keep a lot of pressure on it when I tightened down the screws to keep it in the right place.

If it works, then great. I haven't actually driven the truck yet, so not sure if the radar is working or not. I assume if it shows/beeps a collision warning from that side then I am good.

Oh, also, not sure why I always have such a hard time with these things. I watched Youtube videos on how to pull the assembly, and it seemed like once you removed the 2 screws the assembly pulled out with no issues. Man, I had issues. Though I was gonna break it. I ended up pulling out one of the clips. Luckily, it was in OK shape, so I put it back on, but I really thought there had to be another screw somewhere that I was missing!

I believe that you bought an aftermarket taillight. Make sure that the BLIS module's gasket is fully seated against the lens to insure a good water-tight seal.

I'm wondering, are the bliss modules interchangeable (passenger side or driver)?
