This has to be the worst Fxxxxxx software I have ever seen.
I have to do a master reset at least every couple of months.
The phone section stops working.
It sees the phone.
But cant make calls, receive calls, see contacts or recent calls.
Rebooting the phone does nothing. You cant disconnect it, you cant delete it, you cant add another blue tooth device.
You only option is do a master reset.
Its not the phone, it happened with my LG and now my Samsung.
Its frustrating for sure.

I'm beginning to think SYNC stands for "Sorry, your not connected". Mines not that bad, but it does have it's problems. The only thing I can suggest it take it back to the dealer. Maybe there's some kind of re-programming they can do. Good luck.

Sync3 kinda really sucks.

I have had to reset mine so often it has become second nature, and it has done it with both iPhone and Samsung GalaxyS8.

I never have to do a Master reset though (unless what I'm doing is referred to as a Master reset?)

Edit: Below procedure is not a Master Reset. It's just a reboot and it, so far anyway, has worked every time my Sync has gotten buggy. Plus you can easily do it while driving.

Touch and hold the power button and then touch and hold the media ffwd buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds.

Sync will reboot and everything works again (until it doesn't).

And someone at Ford needs to be smacked for their decision to gray out favorite playlist selection while the vehicle is moving, and I know this is just Sync because my Kenwood and Pioneer Carplay units in my other vehicles don't do it using the same phone.

You guys will love this.
One morning I went to leave the house and started the truck with the app.
Got in the truck pushed the start button and nothing, no screen no back up cam
no radio. You could tell the backlight was on the screen.
Shut off the vehicle restarted it and it was back to life.
How about this one.
Shut the truck off get out, start walking away and the radio comes back on.
Here is another one.
Start the truck with the app.
App says Vehicle is started, etc.
Go Out truck is not started.

All I get from the dealer is bring it in.
Although I am retired F that. They cant do Sxxt.
The software is not supported it just works marginally.
And as long as the vehicle runs and there is no safety issue, they are not going to do Sxxt.
Its the uploaded software, they need to do an update for us and fix some of this crap!

If you have a different dealer close by try bringing it there and see if they can fix it. Like RP said it sounds like it's a module issue and all the resets in the world are not going to fix this. I never updated my Sync because of all the issues I've read on here and mine still works perfect. It's not worth the aggravation just to get the newest UI and maps, I just use my phone for Nav when needed.

Hmm. Thats interesting. Mine is up to date as far as updates. Not sure if I can back out the software updates. I cant remember when this all started. All this interesting stuff starts happening and then phone takes a crap and bang, time for a master reset. Now I just gota find a dealer that is worth a crap. My first and only dealer interaction was an oil change. Not stellar.
Vehicle was supposed to be sanitized, not! An they rotated the tires and at 70 the truck shaked. dealer wanted me to pay for a balance. Didn't happen. Costso for a $20 balance fixed it

I'm having similar issues as well. What I notice the most is that even though my iPhone connects via bluetooth, there is no audio. The screen shows the correct song being played, just no sound. My fix has been to disable bluetooth, and then reconnect - but sometimes that doesn't even work. I even tried the Master Reset, and that wasn't a permanent fix either. Both Sync and iOS are all the latest updates.

My phone is and android. As for the Bluetooth. When this stuff starts happening
you cant disable Bluetooth on the head unit, or disconnect the phone or even delete the phone.

I've had the Sync 3 on my Ford Explorer for three years and I've NEVER experienced anything like this. Kinda strange that it's acting so poorly for so many Rangers. Hopefully, this is just a software thing that Ford can figure out.

Aah Looks like its time for another Master Reset!
Open phone.
Open Ford Pass
Press Start
Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait,
Engine Started.
Go out to the vehicle.
Engine not Started.
That's not the only thing happening.
Get out of truck and go into store.
Oh I forgot to lock the vehicle.
Open phone.
Open Ford Pass
Press the lock icon.
Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait,
Failed to lock try again.
Gosh is it my truck?

I have an iPhone and Sync works great. It is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Mylink system in my 2019 Chevy I had

I currently have my 2019 in service for the Sync not connecting to Ford for updates and Ford Pass services. It's been in there for 2 weeks before they futured out it was the original module was broken. Then they placed another module in and it didn't work. Now I'm waiting on a third module to come in and be placed in the truck. Before they ordered the 2nd replacement module they took a module out of a new Ranger on the lot and it worked. Tech said they have been seeing a lot of vehicles come in with this problem.
