This is only speculation on my part based on my time as an operating system programmer for IBM. I suspect that if you have a version of sync that is multiple versions old, then sync must update in multiple steps to get to the latest version of sync. For example, if you are on version 1, then the system likely has to update to version 2 as an intermediate step before it can install version 3. IBM's operating systems had requirements like this when upgrading from old versions.I did mine over wifi. I've never updated mine since I bought it 3.5 years ago so mine took almost 24 hours. You can set it to auto update under the settings on the main screen. This way you don't end up like me 3.5 years later with an old version. lol
This would explain the longer download/update times if you are running on a version that has not been updated on a regular basis.
