I did mine over wifi. I've never updated mine since I bought it 3.5 years ago so mine took almost 24 hours. You can set it to auto update under the settings on the main screen. This way you don't end up like me 3.5 years later with an old version. lol
This is only speculation on my part based on my time as an operating system programmer for IBM. I suspect that if you have a version of sync that is multiple versions old, then sync must update in multiple steps to get to the latest version of sync. For example, if you are on version 1, then the system likely has to update to version 2 as an intermediate step before it can install version 3. IBM's operating systems had requirements like this when upgrading from old versions.

This would explain the longer download/update times if you are running on a version that has not been updated on a regular basis.

Thanks Al and that makes a lot of sense. Now that I finally updated it I'll do it more often as they come up. Didn't really notice any huge difference but I'm sure there were tweaks that were subtle.

Do you connect to WiFi when you can? I did have my truck parked next to the house a few days and is close enough to get a decent signal. Or when I contacted Ford through their messaging service maybe they did something when they were checking on it that got it to update. The dealer had it overnight too for the windshield recall but don't know why they would mess with it they didn't even know about it. Mine was blank till it finnally updated the site.

Yep. Always parked in the garage and always connected to wifi.

Ranger shows up-to-date.
Website shows update available.

yep that was exactly like mine. I did perform a master reset and installed the update Again and had no luck. then I installed the map update and two days later it was good. So not sure hope your works soon.

I did mine thru the USB and no problems uploading XML. No problems connecting Samsung S20FE.
For S&G, I logged into Ford and see that it shows I'm updated to 3.4.2220

Hmmm.....if you were able to upload the XML file, it must mean the issue many are having (including me...get message that Upload Failed) is not with the Ford website as has been reported. Very frustrating! Mine says the last update was on my Blend Date :rolleyes: .
