My fiance bought a used ford car with only one key. She had to drive the car to our locksmith who then programmed a key she bought off of Amazon. The key was like 30$. The guy charged 10$ to cut the key and program. Most don't so that that cheaply. Most will try to charge you 200$ for a 10 minute job because they can. So sad how greedy people have become.
Call around a find an honest locksmith who will cut and program it for you. Mobile ones are usually sky high. Find one with a workshop. Get the key off Amazon. Good luck.

Take some time to call around - can save you at least $100. There is bound to be one reasonable locksmith in your area. I had to drive 20-30 minutes, but the $$ difference was $40 vs $140 at the local guy close to me.

Anyone recommend a keybob from amazon or anywhere else that is compatable with the keyless entry and push button start?

So after having six admin keys, trying to program a seventh, I get "max number of keys learned ". So I am guessing six is the max or maybe one needs to be made into a mkey first. I dunno. Any ideas?

Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys
NOTE: A maximum of 8 ignition keys can be programmed ...

Guessing that the two originals count as part of the 8, so, two original + 6 additional = the max of 8.

Ineed to get an additional key, or at least a dummy key that cna unlock the truck. Had a bit of a "lost key" scare after getting back to my truck after some seriously remote mountain biking.

You can have the keysmith cut it but you can program it yourself! Manual says how to program it!

Fwiw,
I wanted a spare key to hide with no fob.
From the Locksmith I had her cut just a blade.
I pinned that to a custom bow.
It stays hidden somewhere on the chassis but fairly easy to access.

I wanted to do the same, no FOB, just a spare key to open the door but my locksmith did not have the blade. Did you order the blade and bring it in or did your local lock gal have it in stock? Thanks

Can't y'all open remotely from your phones?

And didn't y'all get a second key with your trucks?

She had a few blades taken from complete fobs.
My guess is people damage a fob so she'll just swap their key onto a new fob.

Our local Sam's club has a vendor outside every few weeks sells and programs remotes from a mobile van. Not sure if he cuts them there but maybe it's a better price?

A guy who does keys for my Dealer cut this key for me on a Ford blank...$50.00. I like it because it is small and not bulky but has a chip in it...not a valet key. Figured it would be best to get a chip key for the spare back-up key. Got a Flash Drive case (and inserted the key in it) on Amazon and attach the case to a belt loop. Carry it on me for a back-up in case I lose the main Ranger Fob key.

Has anyone had any success adding a 3rd key? I am looking into getting a 3rd key without the keyless entry/alarm. I just need it when I drop my truck off for service and I don't have to leave all of my keys. Any links to where to purchase would be great.

Thank you!

I am looking for a 3rd key so when I leave my truck for service, etc. I don't have to separate the rest of the keys I have

I had a "dumb" key (just a metal key) made to hide on the outside of the truck if the keypad ever fails. This almost guarantees that it will never fail! :like:
