I got an air quality warning for later this week, I'm guessing it's related to this.

Generally we get it at least a couple weeks a year here on the Front Range of Colorado. Some years a couple of months.

Hope it moves out soon for you.

Air quality got pretty bad yesterday and as I look out this morning, looks to be the same again with smokey haze. You can literally smell it when you go outside. We're in a valley, so it's socked in and looks like morning fog that settled in. We're in central PA.

It's even worse this morning. Really dark orange with reduced visibility and hard to breath outside. East of us looks pretty clear but we are in the center of the current bloom. Can't wait until this is over.

Forestry in Canada also has to take a long hard look at their procedures.
At night, when it gets cooler, the fires diminish.
The next day, they wake up, scratch their balls, have coffee and breakfast, get dressed and meet for a 9am pow wow to talk about their plans to fight the fire. By then, the sleepy fire is now awake and raging again. They send some locals out with piss packs, garden hoses and send up some helicopters with little itty buckets of water that do nothing when the forest is rocking BTU's in the millions by now.
hit the thing when its looking for another log to be dropped on the fire.

It's been hazy for several days now here in central Va. Sun is barely visible except sunrise and sunset.

The thing that is scary to me is that it is REALLY early in the season for fires like this...... I hope it isn't a sign of what is to come later in the summer...

Had to take our puppy to the vet today for an appointment made 6 weeks ago. Drove by our local buffalo farm and they were all just laying on the ground sleeping. Hundreds of them and none standing. Never seen any like it before, usually they are all standing and grazing. Must be trying to limit their respiratory rate. It's also still in the 50s here. Can't wait to see sun again and breathe fresh air. Now I have an idea of how the ice age started.

While we have the air quality warning, I must say, I don't smell the smoke. It's been drizzly the last few days, we live at the intersection of two valleys, maybe that has helped. Smokey skies though.
Hope it clears out soon for all those adversly affected...
