I wanted to know if anyone on here has had the pleasant experience of their Ranger suddenly deciding to lock itself? I have a 2020 Ranger XLT with the regular key with the remote lock/unlock buttons and I always lock or unlock my truck with no issues whatsoever. I mean, I've always had to press the lock button to lock it with the exception of driving off, it locks itself as I start to drive off, a safety feature that I've always liked.

What I'm talking about is ignition off, all doors unlocked, key out and away and the truck locking itself after about ten minutes or so of just sitting, just sitting, doing nothing, just sitting around dead and parked lol

Few nights ago, I was unloading my truck way out in the middle of nowhere and the wind swiftly shut my driver's door while I was unloading my kayak. No biggy. I've had my truck unlocked many times with the keys inside. But when I went to open the door, what the .%$#&! All the doors had suddenly locked! My phone happened to be inside, too! So I was totally screwed and had to break the friggin glass to get inside. Imagine that, busting the glass on your nice Ranger!

Well, as a side note, if anyone has to do this, DO NOT ever break the driver's window! It's laminated and cost $600 bucks. Thank goodness they make a regular tempered replacement at half the price. To be honest, I prefer the tempered stuff, yes, at half the price but more so because that laminated stuff was like trying to bust steel. I used a giant rock and had to hit it so many times to even dent it. Can't imagine if ever trapped inside, totally trapped, never gonna break it to escape.

Here's my keyless entry method:

It sounds like the auto lock was enabled. Have you checked the setting to see if there's an auto lock feature that was enabled?

I've never touched anything, or, if I did, I would've never known about it. You talking about the steering wheel display buttons, those feature menus? Where might I find this self lock feature?

From the steering wheel go to vehicle and locks and see what's checked.

Has the battery been changed or disconnected at all? This might have reset things back to factory settings too.

Below are the instructions for programming the locks. Reason #397 to have a keypad. They can be purchased and programmed for $150-$200. I recommend talking to your dealer first. The initial syncing to your truck must be done thru a dealer, after that you can put in your own code. Some won't program a unit not bought thru their parts department, some can't or won't at all. Shop around. ~1/3 the cost and exponentially less aggravation than a busted window. Also, allows you to lock the truck while it's running; while doing a quick in-out at the C-store for a beverage, for instance.

Or the Ford Pass app. You can unlock with your phone, unless you locked the phone inside

Nothing with the battery....everything is fresh and untouched. As a simple test a few times, I have left the truck purposely unlocked and it has stayed unlocked even after an hour. Strange. I'll check this lock feature that you spoke of just in case. Thanks

My phone was inside the truck, so no way to use the APP.

i believe that autolock is the one that locks the doors when the vehicle starts to move
It might be I haven't looked at it in a long time. I know there's several different setting in there. ?‍♂

Then it could be one of those electrical gremlins some seem to have. If everything looks good after you check your settings you could try disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes which will help reset things. That seems to work for most issues.

I park in my garage. Never lock my truck and it has never locked itself.
My sync is always glitchy, connecting to my phone and so on. I have a galaxy s9,
But have not come across gremlins on my truck yet.
Sorry you had to use the master key.

Is it possible the doors were locked already when they blew shut?
Maybe an accidental push of the keyfob or hit the lock button on the way out of the truck.

Exabit A as to why I have 3 methods of entry (key fob, phone, keypad) on my truck.

Also, if my key is in my truck while unloading/loading I do have a habit of rolling the windows down unless the weather prohibits this.

Another reason why i am OCD about leaving my keys in the truck when i am not in it
Yeah I was never a fan of push to start but since I've had it I've been able to not ever worry about this, which I used to be very OCD about. With push to start I keep my keys on my belt and they stay there. If I get out of the truck they always come with me.
