Right when I started searching for a Ranger on lots in early 2021, I stumbled across a 2018 F150 Platinum with 25,000 miles on it for $32,000 on a lot and it almost completely derailed my plan - it was a good deal then and given where truck prices are now, I really really really regret not buying it, even just to flip it. At the time I had my mind set on not going full size because I wanted to be able to garage it.
Wow. I would fall over myself buying that today.

If prices right now were where they were a year ago, I'd be driving a lightly used F150 instead of waiting!

Prior vehicle was 2019 Colorado ZR2
1.) Tacoma TRD pro crew cab manual trans, but none available.
2.) Wrangler Rubicon manual trans, but none available.
3.) Ranger Tremor was on lot and trade was too good to pass up.

The only real contender was a Colorado ZR2 and it wasn't really that much of a contender.

Nothing outrageously bad about it, but it just didn't grab me like the Ranger.

I had driven the Taco before and as long as it still had the 3.5/A6 combo I knew it was not even to be considered.

Ditto for the Gladiator as I had a new 2017 Wrangler and no desire to revisit that.

The frontier, i liked that it was cheap in comparison, but also very capable and reliable. Can't speak on the new gen they just released, but saw it on the street the other day. It didnt have a awww cool new factor to me.

I started reading about the Ranger, the GMs & the Taco. Only drove the Ranger as a test drive. Pure
perception, non scientific, I think Ford makes a better product. On paper it looks better, so that's what I did. I did like the test drive so that sold me. I should have tested the others but I'm
happy with this. I really want tha PHEV now for some reason.

Hi Folks,

My second choice was to keep my 2007 Ranger. It had only 36,000 miles on it but it was a SWB Regular Cab Rubber Mat Special... I decided to treat myself to a fully loaded Lairat to pamper myself... Z plan makes it almost impossible for me to consider SOB. (Some Other Brand).

best,
Phil

My first choice was to buy another used Dodge Dakota but I could find one that was in good shape at a reasonable price. I did look at some used Tacoma's but a 2012 with 200,000 miles for $18,000 convinced me to go new.

With the decision made to go new, the Ranger was my first choice, I liked the 2.3 turbo in my 17 Mustang and new what to expect. If the 22 Frontier had been available I would have checked it out. Buddy of mine just got a 22 Pro4x anditis every bit as nice as my Ranger Lariat Tremor.

Tacoma or Colorado ZR2. Both too expensive and no Cactus Grey ?

Terrain SCab Raptor... Awesome spec. I can't afford the fuel bill though.
