Seat Quality...WTF???!!!

I don't know why I just noticed this at 77K flawless miles, but holly crap...what is happening here?! I saw this spot on the lower left side of the driver's seat bolster wearing nearly through the fabric...I thought the keys I carry on the left side of my belt hoop was causing this...NOPE...the keys are no where near the wear spot...then I realized IT'S THE SEAT BELT THAT IS CAUSING THIS WEAR!!! WHAT?! How can this be? At this rate, there'll be a hole long before I pass the 100K mark...

Anyone else noticed this issue? Anyone have suggestions as to how to fix or mitigate this before a hole is worn through??

I don't have any wear yet but If Ford fixes it, can you slide a piece of those lambs wool seat belt pads down to that spot, I think some are split down the middle and velcro. I Google lambs wool seat belt cover and several colors popped up

It's not the seat material, I have the same issue with my Fia saddle blanket seat covers. Appearently, using unfinished edge material on stiffened seat belt is creating a hack saw effect.

I just took a look at mine and it’s starting to wear so I guess I’ll be putting the patch on the seat to protect it. I remember my 2004 F150 with leather seats were out on the left side of the driver seat where I always slid out of the truck in one year I went to Ford and they said that was normal wear. In this case it’s a design flaw.

For "normal wear" to allow seat belt chafing through seat fabric in under 4 years is pretty poor standard...I think they dropped the ball on this...

Thanks for posting! I can see this starting to happen on mine too, just ordered these to hopefully prevent anymore wear on the seat.

Well, let's see how long a Coroplast "car band-aid" will last...I find this pretty unacceptable for a seat fabric not to be able to withstand "standard operating procedures"...this Ranger is about as pampered as any vehicle will get and the material doesn't hold up...sad...

The sad part is the design allowing the belt to rub there.

When my "Jack Russell Terrorist" starting "chewing on the belt, I bought 8 of the padded seat belt things from Amazon ... only used 6 to cover the belt. I'm pretty sure where I'll put the other two

Stitch a piece of matching leather over the area contacted by the seat belt??

Those are the ones I bought ... needed 6 to totally cover the pup's belt. Three going up to the pivot and three going down. The belt slides right through them, so it will probably stay on the spot. if not, safety pin it in the right spot.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Checked mine today and a wear spot has started on the driver's seat back but the passenger side OK. I liked your patch (Coroplast "car band-aid") solution because it improves cosmetically and also prevents more wear if like you say, it holds up. Am still on warranty so going to the Dealer tomorrow to make a claim if they will accept it. Will report back with the result.

Has anyone checked the back seats for possible wear? Haven't had any passengers ride there in mine yet.

Sid, do you think one of those selt belt shoulder pads wrapped around the belt where it hits the seat would help with the rubbing? Just a thought.
