My trans temps have not been that hot yet. I will tow 5000lbs with a large truck payload and large frontal wind face several thousand miles almost daily in November. Sometimes on grades and often in heat. Once I’ve done that, I’ll have a better idea about the truck.

After driving some, not a lot, on flat to gentle hills unloaded and not towing with temps between the high 50’s and low 90’s F, my head temp mostly hangs between 16-169F, and my trans temps run about 20F higher.

I 'm running a Scan Gauges that I used on a 2016 Ford Chassis MH and then on a Ford Flex. I had Linear update it and am now using it on my 2022 Ranger. Two of the items I have programmed are the Cylinder Head Temperature and Engine Coolant Temperature. When tracking these two items on both the motor home and the Flex, the temperature difference between the dead temp and coolant temp is no more than a few degrees. However, in the Ranger, the difference is 30+/- degrees less than the coolant temp. Anyone else experience this?

I don’t know since I have not set water temp on the gauge. I watch the factory gauge. I can set it, and watch it, but won’t drive the truck much until mid March. I can report average differences then.

I contacted ScanGuage regarding the Cylinder Head Temperature. Their answer is as follows:

"That may be possible depending on the location of the sensors along the line. In some vehicles, the Cylinder Head Temperature and Coolant temperature are taken from the same place, while in others they will be in different locations. If you have any questions, please let me know."

I thought there would have been a little more standardization in the location of the sensors.

Brand new Ranger. Installed scan gauge. Set up Xgague for trans temp and cylinder head. I thought I read the 2019+ has a cylinder head temp sensor. I get no reading for cylinder head temp. I’ve checked the data entry on my gauge setup. I contacted Linear and sent them the requested info, but have heard nothing from them yet. Any experience here that might help figure out how to get cylinder temp?
It seems as if someone may have answered your question but as a suggestion I recommend watching both cylinder head and coolant temp at the same time. Why you ask? Because you can find out fairly quickly if you have a coolant leak that way. Generally speaking the two should be real close to eachother within a few degrees. If it goes beond that you. Have a coolant leak somewhere.
