This article from last summer, F150 with the 10R80. The author found the problem via a diagnostic tool while driving since the truck wasn't throwing codes. Valve body repair was needed. 20,000 miles on it.

Might not apply here, I'll post in the transmission thread.
Great Find, finally some detailed failure info, now to figure out does the CDF Drum cause the pressure regulator to fail or vice versa.
Being that the TSB directs to the Valve Body first then the Drum if needed I am thinking the Pressure Regulator may be the Root Cause of both failures.

The suggestion to use multiple transmission settings - Sport and the trailer option - may work the valve body enough to keep the internals working?

I'm starting to wonder if an additive might be a good call.

The problem with this theory is the fact the Ranger has a parking paw attached to the shifter via cable.

Yeah, my post isn't relevant here.

Pretty much why I've been using one since about 5k.

Were you parked on ice? If your "park" position worked correctly the drive shaft will not turn. But if one wheel is on ice and one is not the the ice wheel will turn backwards (slipping on the ice) and the truck would move forward.

Just a grasping at straws hope for you. ;)
