Use the kit. Clean out as much glass as you can , follow the directions. BE IN SHADE when you do it. Just follow directions. If it works, yay, no hassles with all the sensor stuff. Youd be suprised what these kits can fix. Good luck.

That one is going to be tough, with it being all the way through and it looks like a lot of separation between layers. I'm thinking replacement.
Yeah, the hit was super loud but I couldn't see it behind the black box. Looks pretty bad.

Not sure I have the confidence to do it but may ask the rock chip place in town.

The kit is simple and self explanatory. Get this kit, it is super user friendly, it takes a lot of the guess work out. I usually buy it at oreillys

My confidence was very low with the glass repair kit but it worked very well. I did continually refer to the instructions but it worked.

It's been a year now and I still can't see the chip, I can see a thin edge of the filler stuff on one side, I never was able to get that flush, but it doesn't obscure vision and don't think that would cause an issue for a chip over the camera area.

That said, I think most places are pretty reasonable to fix chips (if I remember right, when I lived in Massachusetts, chips and replacement were "free" as covered by law).

Step-by-step pics of my repair:

this edge effect below became less pronounced after some isopropyl cleanup

this is the last step for curing that shows where the filler was, it matches the "done" image above

I use thejb weld kit for advanced cracks. The post dave put on this thread shows i had a bad window star. To advanced for me to use my reusable kit. Sometimes you can still see part of the window crack, but it does not run. That is the really important part, for me anyhow. The reusable kit i use for small simple stars. I have had lots of practice, i have about 10 or so on my windshield. Very annoying.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Got my 4th window star today and asking you repair peeps if this one can be fixed. It's about size of a half dollar but luckily just out of eyesight as it is at the bottom of the black box on the windshield.

One picture from the outside and one from the inside.

Oh man, that doesn’t look good at all. :( Sucks that it happened.
