I met Betty White once, by sheer accident (literally) at the Las Vegas, Hilton. I just checked in, turned around, and bumped into her. We each said sorry at the same time. Then she said.. "we should do a duet!" We both laughed.
My gf just told me this, she's a huge BW fan. Sad because she seemed like she was one who was going to live well into her 100's. Missed it by 17 days, RIP Betty!
My favorite Betty White character was her portrayal of Sue Ann Nivens on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was the star of the homemaker show within the fictitious tv station they all worked for, and had Mr Grant (Ed Asner) the station's news producer wrapped around her finger. Sue Ann could have a syrupy yet comically menacing way of getting her way.
I don't usually look this stuff up, but Ms White was the last of the regular cast to pass away (character name in parentheses):
Mary Tyler Moore (Mary Richards) 2017
Ed Asner (Mr/Lou Grant) 2021
Ted Knight (Ted Baxter) 1986
Gavin McLeod (Murray Slaughter) 2021
Valerie Harper (Rhoda Morgenstern) 2019
Cloris Leachman (Phyllis Lindstrom) 2021.
