The legendary Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley passed away at the age of 74. I think most if not everyone in our generation was a pretty big Kiss fan back in the 70's & 80's. They were different with their flashy makeup, crazy costumes and pyrotechnics and had so many great rock hits. I never got to see them but know several friends who did and said they put on a hell of a show! Another rock icon gone too soon. RIP Ace!

The rock world is mourning the loss of legendary Kiss guitarist and co-founder Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, who has died at the age of 74. Frehley, known as the band’s “Space Ace,” passed away following injuries from a fall last month, his family confirmed.

Ace Frehley’s family shared, “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth… Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever.”

His former Kiss bandmates, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, also expressed their grief, calling Frehley an “irreplaceable rock soldier.” Their joint statement read, “We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” the statement reads in part. “He is and will always be a part of Kiss’ legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world” (via Variety).

He was a cool AF guy. One of my patients in Orlando owned a pawn shop. Ace would go there to when he wanted to look at used guitars or unload some of his one-of-a-kind KISS stuff. I wandered in one afternoon when he was there and we sat & talked for about an hour. I was high on adrenaline the entire time. I've brushed passed a few celebs in the past but that one hit the hardest. I was starstruck. We talked about the show I saw (Destroyer tour) in Cleveland as a kid. Then the Psycho Circus tour. Then me meeting Paul & Gene at a truck stop in Toledo ('90). I played Ms.Packman with Gene. He never spoke a word. And Paul was like 6'6. He's freakin' tall AF. I even got a handshake / shoulder bump from Ace. Major bucket list item checked off ! I was gutted to hear he passed. But trust me,,, he had one hell of a life !
