Wow - 24 grand for a 35 year old low model truck (XL)! That is about as much as brand new Ranger!Just saw this on Bring A Trailer and had to share. I think we should all pitch in and get this for Phil. 1985 Ford Ranger XL 4x4. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-ford-ranger-xl-4x4/
Is it a third brake light or just a cargo light, lens looks clear.I noticed in the pictures that this 1985 Ford Ranger has a third-brake light. I had a suspicion that the '85 was the first year for one on a Ranger as they were not required by law until 1986. I found the below picture of a 1984 Ranger. No third brake light. Thus, the 1985 Ford Ranger is a collector's item!

Hi Jim,
Seeing this picutre brings out a bit of a back story. You see the tailgate white letters. I was amazed at the assembly plant how those letters were done. There is a assenbly plant line worker with a paint roller that rolled the paint onto the embossed letters! I could not believe it but this person also did pin striping using paint pens. Who would have thunk that that there would be a paint roller used on production vehicles.... I even tried this out with the line worker... There was a "technique" to get it right, but I did not do a bad job on a one time basis.
Best,
