I removed the vinyl between the doors the day I brought it home. I didn't need a heat source, but it was warm out and a new truck, so the adhesive wasn't set yet.

I'm not sure if I like the blackout look, that matches the rest of the window trim, or the paint color.

I removed it from my truck last summer. No heat gun. No nothing. Took about one fairly careful minute per side. Maybe 30 seconds now that I think about it. Slow but steady worked for me.

Much happier with more blue on each side. :inlove:

Wife has never even noticed it. But really, don't think 99.9% of people would. And only 74.3% of Ranger owners would. :giggle:

Note! if you've installed a damper, removing the vinyl tends to cause transmission issues in most cases. . And per the related TSB it will also lower the HP to 254.

At first I thought that trim piece was going to bug me. Debated it for a few minutes. But then the idea of "more blue and less black" won me over and I peeled off the vinyl. No regrets. True you end up with a piece of black trim at the window bottom height. Hard to explain but you get it as you asked. I don't find it to be real noticeable. Happy I ditched the vinyl.

just went to garage and took a pic for you. Sorry, still dark this morning so pic is lame with only garage light. But it'll give you an idea.

I saw this video by Long McArthur Ford on removing the vinyl from the doors of the Maverick.

I have the same bubbles on the top of my doors on the vinyl and had considered removing this vinyl but have been antsy that under it would not be painted - ie just primed. Based on this video it appears to be painted. I have mentioned it to 3 different dealers and their response has been "huh, never seen that before." Which IMHO thats BS and they just don't want to mess with it. . . (shrug - Dealers are a rip off and I cannot wait until the day I can buy direct from the manufacturers. . . )

When it warms up, I may remove this vinyl and either redo with something that would match the wheel wells and bumpers instead of black. Or I may leave it body color.

I am sure there are others who have done this - any pictures of your trucks without the vinyl?

Thanks in advance.

How would buying directly from manufacturers help? Their the ones who make the crap!

Because I wouldn't have to deal with a dealer who is out to make as much money as they can by selling crap I don't want or need.

And I could pick the vehicle up direct from the factory once it is built and save almost 2k on "delivery" and not have to wait a month while said vehicle is in transit.

Imagine, buying a vehicle through a website, and picking it up the day it is built without having to deal with a dealers nonsense.
