Well in that case... The description of this video states:
Thanks, good find. That's consistent with the note I posted above, so it sounds like the basic connectivity is good for a year.

I wonder if it will connect to an ATT Wifi hotspot. If you have ATT internet at home, you can log on to the internet from any ATT Wifi hotspot in the US. Being able to do that would be kinda cool if you don't want to spend the bucks for cellular data.

What am I missing here?

I linked my truck to the WiFi at my house so I can lock and unlock the truck while in my garage and start the engine; though I can't see any time I'll ever do this while its in the garage.

My truck already has remote start and door locks and my phone already has a data plan through AT&T and can become a HotSpot. I guess I can't currently start my truck from miles away unless it is somewhere with WiFi, but I really don't see times when I want to start my truck when I'm not near it.

So far, the only advantage I can see for myself is locking the keys in the truck and using my phone to unlock it when I get back, but that is only helpful until the Keyless Entry Pad comes out in a few months and requires cell signal which often isn't the case while in the mountains.

And why would I pay for an additional data plan through AT&T when I already have one?

Obviously different people just have different uses and wants for their truck than I do, but Connect seems gimmicky to me which makes me think I'm missing something that would make it more useful. Tell me where I'm wrong

But not everyone is going to be able to park their car in their garage. For those of us who have to park in the driveway, a remote start is very nice. Yet with that said, you shouldn't need internet to remote start in your driveway. But for those who are in an apt. complex, there's a good chance your truck is out of range for standard remote start. And then most of us probably have the truck out of range at our place of work.

I know I'm personally going to primarily be using the remote start at the end of the work day, heating/cooling the truck as I pack up my bag. As such, I'm hoping I can get it to connect to my workplace's wifi (it reaches the parking lot, but requires logon info, so I don't know if the truck can support that or not), which will serve my primary remote start needs. When I take the lady out for a night on the town, I probably won't be able to remote start it, but oh well.
