Well....I don't HATE Amazon. It's point...click...add to cart...purchase and then wait for delivery.

We are all getting lazy. Otherwise I would've stopped by the Sears tool department. Yes, I know Craftsman is at Lowe's now. I go to Lowe's and I'll end up leaving with more than the tool I need.
Problem with going to the store to purchase is the extra money for gas if you live far away.
Even 10 miles away is 20 total and a gallon of gas along with your time.

Amazon is a necessary evil, but I'm not totally fond of it. What happened to the days when you could drive to multiple stores and not think of the cost of travel.

A bit off topic, but wife and I buy approx. 75% of our "stuff" on Amazon, simply because there is no place near us (read 30 miles or more=60 mile round trip) that carries items we're intrested in....and if there is, Amazon usually beats price by enough that it's worth paying Amazon.
Especially true with items for our travel trailer.

Try doing that between Black Friday and Xmas.

Covid caused alot of these issues in the past few years. We started to look for ways to purchase things without leaving your home, at least that's how it was for me.

Amazon was always there in the past 5 years or so but really took off during covid. Bottom line is we started to factor in travel for purchases with shipping costs, and if it were close shipping won.

Totally agree with you, Figarou. Been probably 20 years now, wife found a great deal on a basketball backboard & post. Got to the store around 6.00 am. The place was crazy busy. Made the purchase and got the hell out of dodge. Never again.

COVID sure changed a lot of things. I'm just glad I lived through it. :whew:

As for Amazon, I didn't care to much about it until I needed a blade for my electric razor. The store no longer carries what I needed. Amazon had it. So I signed up. Happened more than once with other products. Filters, parts, etc.

It's a toss up for me, I really want to support the local shops, but online has become so competitive, which drives the price down, factor in fuel and especially time, it's Amazon prime most of the time.

Not always though, the local Box City store here beats the price of some shipped cardboard products.

Here's a for instance, Harbor Freight is a 20 mile round trip at least, they charge a $7 flat fee shipping charge I believe, so its hard to want to drive, chance an accident , my time factored in, to make a special trip. It pains me to think in these terms but its reality.

Ok, shouldn't have said that I "hate" Amazon. Bad word choice.

Convenience? OMG do I love the ease of ordering from Amazon! Get an idea, pick up phone, search 30 seconds, BOOM! Desired item in hand the next day. Even same day Amazing. Insane. Incredible. Unbelievable. Truly.

Now what I do truly hate:
1) The way Amazon treats their employees. No I've never worked there. But every single thing you read from current and ex-employees, etc. points to the same hellhole pressure cooker inhuman problems/conditions.

2) Entire set up of using 3rd party contractors for deliveries. What a scam. Amazon controls every single detail of those contractors work lives. And they know the cost structure for those business owners and control that down to the penny. Yet they hide behind the law to avoid any liability and responsibility for the delivery side of the business, always claiming "those aren't our employees." Bullshit. (To be fair, FedEx does the exact same thing with their contractor division.)

Bezos got rich. And he deserved to profit from his idea and hardwork. But the company should use some of their wealth and continued profitability to make it a better place to work. And should damn sure revamp the delivery side.

I know. On my soap box. And it's all just my stinking opinion.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming....

My soon to be here dipstick is boxed up and ready to go! :like:

I may be upstairs in my office but pretty sure that I just heard my Ranger purr with happiness in the garage.

I should have mine by next Wednesday. It'll be Friday or Saturday before I can install it. Depends on the weather.

Same here. Weather combined with weekend schedules. Anticipation will be killing me!

Of course I talk to mine.....garaged, and at nite, tuck Truck in with a nice warm quilt, make sure all fluids are topped off, read a story, say nighty nite, and leave a nite light on......
It's good to know that I'm not the only one that does stuff like that! :) And to top it off, the Ranger occasionally talks back with whatever that odd electric/mechanical noise is under the hood.

Same for us.....the nearest Sams Club, Harbor Freight, Menards is 50 miles away. It is MUCh cheaper to buy a Sams Plus card & get free shipping than to drive the 100 mile round trip & risk some egg-head door dinging the vehicle or hitting a suicidal deer.

You don't turn the radio on so your Ranger thinks someone is there to keep its anxiety down while you're not around ?‍?️??.

Maybe that's why my battery keeps dying ?
