That was the first and only video game I ever had. lol

I (thankfully) never got into playing video games and now see how kids are with them now I'm happy I didn't. Pinball was fun and we use to walk the backstreets to the mall to play at the arcade there. It was a good 3 miles away but we never cared. My mom had no idea where we were all day either. As long as the police didn't show up and I was home for dinner was all that mattered. lol

Back in the day Hawaii had this place called Castle Park. My Dad wasn't too fond of it because my brother and I would spend a couple hours alone just in the castle where all the games were . It was literally an all day affair. Between the water park, go karts, mini golf, batting cages, bumper boats and the Castle it was always a blast. Usually it was birthday trips.

I never really cared for pinball that much, but I used to love a game called Hyperball by Williams (I liked their Defender video game too).

Apparently the Hyperball machine was a bear to keep in working order.

Not surprising since you basically had a rapidfire pinball cannon that you used to shoot targets and returning pinballs.

Just about everyone I knew (including myself) had a stereo similar tho one of these. A friend of mines brother had a reel to reel and I thought he was rich. lol

Now everything is compact and digital.

Mine was similar to this and I even had those big comfortable headphones.

We had no speed dial back then but my mom knew all my friends moms numbers by heart and could dial them fast! I'd hear my friend's phone ring and his mom would look over and say "he's right here". lol

I remember having Birthdays like that at my Granny Jo's house, she was Dads, Uncle Jim's and late Aunt Donna's mom. Being born in 1984, I remember a lot things that I have seen in this thread. Total flash back, but a lot of good memories and good times as well.
I remember riding my bike without a helmet, staying out after dark, my late older cousin Casey had some of those cap guns that we played Cowboys and Indians with out in the woods beside Uncle Roys and Aunt Claydeans house. This is an awesome thread and it's Fun reading through and seeing all of this stuff.

You want old.....
Growing up in the 50's there weren't a lot of toys we wanted cause most everything revolved around sports....back then mainly baseball. Bikes weren't a plaything per say, they were a necessity for a pre teen....it was our freedom.
Every kid had a baseball glove, ball and bat, and every weeekend we could always count on enough kids to show up for a good game.
Football back then was "meh" and soccer was some game played overseas.
We had yoyo's, marbles, tops and could spend an entire weekend keeping ourselves occupied from sun-up to sun-down and our parents never worried at all if we were out the whole day. Could go swimming in the local creek as just part of being out all day....folks didn't know or care.
No one worried about "kidnapping" stalkers, molesters, mass shootings, or anyone harming us.
Never wore a bike helmet, hard safety hat when playing baseball, no lifeguards when creek swimming, and the occassional times playing football....never wore or even owned a helmet or pad.
Had "real" firecrackers and fireworks during holidays and I couldn't possibly remember how many pails, cans, old toys I blew up with cherrybombs and ashcans.
But, no cmputers, phones, keyboards, anything that used electric or batteries.....
But, we had FUN !!!!!!!
