After several delays I finally managed to get my rear window defroster checked at a dealer in Spain.
Delays were caused as it was noted by dealership, and they would need it for several days to check and analyse.
Telling that it needed to be removed for checks (??? LOL).

I took a picture from 1 heating line not working after first winter night of frost.

Note, EURO spec Raptor. Bought in November 2019.
According to the dealer it is damaged outside of the window and not covered by Ford's Tough warranty.
EVEN though I have never even touched the inside of the window.
And to me this doesn't look as external damage, but more like a production fail. And not seen by inspection.

I feel very disappointed with the service for this top of the range Ranger.

Anyone has similar issue with the window heating?
And how was it handled?

I don't have the problem, but if it's a defect inside and the dealer won't address it, you can get repair kits I'm pretty sure. They used to come with some conductive liquid that you brushed on, likely after using some masking tape or something to create a line across the broken area.

Thanks Tom, I expected the there would be some fix for this.
Though I just want the dealer to take care of it. As it should be warranty.
Let's see if the problem has occurred with someone else. And how it was resolved.

I would push back hard on the dealer - I have never damaged a defrost line on any vehicle I have owned and I'm guessing you haven't either. It must be very rare that happens and more often a manufacturing defect. Maybe try another dealer if you can?

The resistance paint for defrost lines is on the inside surfaces of glass only. It gets baked on after application so only way it comes off is by aggressively scraping it.

That picture shows a defect. I would find another dealer and stick to your guns that that is in fact a defect and needs a replacement window.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks, to me it is also a clear warranty issue. And I don't see any way of damaging them in this way. Maybe acid?
And yes I will surely contact Ford. Probably a bad review is what works best. And I will mention that it's not the dealer but the management.
Workers just have to tell me what they get ordered to tell. So I don't want to blame them.

Definitely should be a warranty repair and likely Ford will want to replace the glass. The rear windows are on back-order and will likely take at least a month or more to come in. That's how long it took for mine to come in.

Not sure what's available over in Madrid, but something like this kit is easy to use and works amazingly well. I used this one to repair the rear defroster grid on my wife's 2014 Sata Fe after the rear tint bubbled up, had to be removed and damaged the defroster grid. Did the repair about 4 years ago and it's still going strong.

Only the two center heating strips on my rear window are working. Dealer has ordered a replacement window.

Not wanting to start a new thread for a similar issue, I too have been having problems with my rear defroster.

Having had my rack/tent mounted for the last year, I never really used my rear defroster since visibility was extremely limited. Since I recently took off the rack to touch up some spotty rust, I noticed the other morning only a single line on the defroster works.

The plug and part of the wire delaminated and fell off my rear window defroster. Ford replaced rear window under warranty. I figured they would just fix it, but they told me they don't fix them, just replace them. Hopefully you can get the issue resolved. Really stinks having problems like this with a new vehicle!
