My kids were recently playing in the Ranger and we had a fair amount of rain in the last couple of days. I got in today and there was a definite funk - not the nice still-kind-of-new car smell I’m used to. Before one of the kiddos left their super smelly shoes in there, but I couldn’t pinpoint a single source. I’m not sure if it’s just the humidity along with the hot sun thats causing this or what.

But I started cleaning out their sh*t, vacuuming, and trying to see if there’s any damp spots when I found this on the back seat. I can’t figure out where it goes but it’s the perfect width of the back sliding window. I’ve tried to search for pictures but can’t find anything showing a good clear picture of what the back window should look like. I’ve found the couple of posts showing the outside seal that looks like mine - drivers side with a gap in the corners and passenger that looks sealed - but only one from the inside and it didn’t look like it was present. I can vividly remember looking at the outside seal before and seeing that it was sealed on all corners so this has to be a part of that somehow.

I can slip it on the bottom and it’ll help seal the outside seal on the bottom but I can also slip it on the top. I’m starting to wonder if I should have two - one on top and bottom - that helps push the window against the outside seal.

Can a couple of y’all with sliding rear windows take a picture or look to see if y’all have something like this?

Thanks!

Well I say I was able to get it in the bottom channel. Now I’m having some trouble. I was also going to say that I did see some water in the bottom channel of the window, but I’m not sure if it stays there or drains anywhere. It wasn’t a lot but it was wet on the bottom.

There are flat seals on the top and bottom on the outside of the slider. They are "fixed" to the window frame and do not move with the slider. I didn't remove either to see if they looked like yours.
