Today we had first big snowfall in GTA. Took Ginger to Costco specifically to test her in the snow.
Very happy with the result. Main roads very splashy, but she was stable. Changing lanes with a lot of slash in between was a breathe. Didn't feel like needed 4x4. Very happy I put General Grabbers on her. Was no slippage at all. A couple of times traction control did its job.
Does Ranger have ABS? Tried hard breaking a couple of times to test with no slip and no ABS engaging :)

Our snow did not start until late afternoon and I don’t think we will get a lot. If the roads need plowing, the plow goes by at 6:30 am, so the roads will not be bad enough to test the Ranger.

Everything will melt by the weekend. Most of me is happy winter is holding off this year, but the other part of me what’s to drive in some real snow with the Ranger.

First blast of winter here in Kingston, sorta. I was hoping we'd get more powder, but the lake is still moderating temperatures near the shore. I think areas north of the 401 are getting more accumulation. I did a few donuts in a (empty) gravel lot and had some lady take pictures of my truck as I drove off. So strange. Is no one allowed to have fun anymore? Sheesh. I'm looking forward to more snow so next time I can really let 'er rip. I'll ask her to send me the pics ?

Well, we did receive about 7 cms (2.75”) of snow overnight. Enough to make everything look white.

I set the Ranger up for failure and it did and it did not. I have a steep driveway and I stopped the Ranger at the base of it, and just started slowly up the hill. I thought I would put it to a test. My thinking was it was fresh snow and the gravel below it was not frozen yet, and it should grip the gravel and go up no problem. About a third of the way up, the back end started to go out. I put it into 4H and it went up no problem.

The snow was wet snow and it packed down, the tires never did get down to the gravel. I never gave it any momentum at the start, or really on the way going up, so I sort of set it up to fail.

On the plowed road and unplowed road it did totally fine in 4H and 2H.

i did try my wife’s Honda Fit, which has the same snow tires on it. I dropped it into 2 and had a bit of a run at the hill and it went up no problem. It also had the benefit of following the tracks of the truck.

Botton line, the truck will do just fine, put it into 4H when you should and don’t let 2H ego put you into situations where it can fail.

Left it outside for a hot minute when I got home from work to admire the already pretty heavy winter coat it's sporting. Went adventuring/exploring in the forest on Saturday to try and find some owls and scout some camping spots, and it got a nice covering of snow, sand, and mud on top of the already growing layer of salt. But luckily the Saber color is pretty good at hiding and absorbing it all.

We received another couple inches of snow. It will all start melting this afternoon.

I had plowed my driveway with my ATV, somI drove up it in 2H. My paved cottage road was plowed, but was still had a layer of snow and ice on it. I thought I would drive in 2H going out to the highway and 4H driving back to see if there was a difference. There was none other than mentally you felt a.little more confident in 4H.

At my destination in town, pulling out of the snow covered parking lot In 2H, onto a slushy, snowy road, the back end slid out a little bit. If I had been racing out, it would had slid out a lot more.

The backend of the Ranger is light, no doubt about it. As long as you know it and drive accordingly, no big deal.

Once again, don’t hesitate to switch to 4H if you are on snowy roads.

Here is more photos taken today. These were taken a ways drive south of us and at a higher elevation, so they had more snow down there than we imagined they would...

I did not picture Michigan with so many coniferous trees.

Our snow will likely all disappear tomorrow, but will return on Tuesday.

Was out in the NF today and snow started up, so we loaded the Boss* and came home. By the time we got to Houghton, it was snowing rather hard. But nothing serious is predicted.

Twas a cloudy and lightly snowy day, so we went out to try and find some owls and moose and Sasquatch. haha Headed over to the nearby Wildlife Sanctuary bog where animals of so many kinds abound. Unfortunately, we didn't see any of the ones we were hoping to see. But I will say the FX4 Trail Control is a wonderful tool for slow cruising and animal spotting. haha
