I have been in the market to replace my 1999 F150 Supercab with 275k and was really waiting until I could see the new Ranger. The 1 feature that really works well with this older F150 is that the rear seat folds completely flat which has worked perfect to be able to tote my police dog around. My only hesitation after seeing the new Ranger is that the dog would have to manage on the smaller rear seat since it doesn't go flat at all. For those that have a dog, how do feel the Ranger does with accommodating the dog. My current dog is a medium sized Bouvier about 70lbs.
I looked at the 2020 Tacoma as well and liked that the rear seats flip up to create a flat platform but after a 30 minute test drive there was no way I was going to be able to tolerate those front seats even with the new power seat. Those seats are clearly designed for a 5'7 person and not a 6'3. The Ranger was the clear winner.
So much seams to be made about this truck being on an older platform but my question is how much will change once on a newer designed set of frame rails. Is it really going to be that dramatic that I'm going to wish I had waited for the redesign. I drove the new F150 and its certainly nice but at 235" long, there's no way it's going to fit in my garage. At the end of the day the F150 Supercrew is simply too much truck.
Thanks in advance.
